Lazzari was always smarter than those block heads.  And despite the law degree by Mertz (does he really have one because it never showed) Lazzari knew more and acted in a far more appropriate wasy as a Town board member.  Though a little consdrvative for me, I think you can't beat her and I have always voted for her whenever she ran for office.

You are still in DEEP denial Cicero.

Some of it is spot on, but the Wal-Mart issue was a political WIN for Tommasone.  Didn't he beat Bob God after the Wal-Mart victory, WITHOUT the Conservative Party endorsement?

YOU have delusions of self-grandeur.

Is Ms. Lazzari trying to rewrite history or is this just her own selective memory?

First.....the proposed rotterdam walmart super center was NOT a vendetta. Scrutinizing a planned walmart is nothing new to walmart. It happens to them every time they propose a new store.....anywhere. It was no different in rotterdam. The rejection of walmart was based on negative impact FACTS as to why this super center should not be developed at the proposed location. It was not a vendetta nor was it political to the residents as Ms.Lazzari is trying to imply. It was based on traffic, safety, quality of life and antiquated infrastructure. And those are the FACTS!

Second......GAR did a shoddy job with their tax paid reval. There were many rotterdam homes that were never assessed and many that were over and/or under assessed. (which is still the case today) Who should be held responsible? GAR! So why would Ms. Lazzari say it was an unwarranted law suit?

Third........Campaigning on the 'save rems' strategy was just one nail in their coffin. Trying to back door a taxing district was the other nail. Most people will agree with that.

I read ms. lazzari's 'opinion' as the usual rehashing of rotterdam's past political practices that have no place in today's elections. The political landscape has changed forever in rotterdam and through out the country with third party candidates. Trying to micro manage a past political official is unnecessary and irresponsible and brings nothing to the political arena todayIMHO. What was her point?

If she was trying to support and prove the fact that McGarry did NOT take votes away from Tommasone...(who cares?).....it would have been better received if she just pointed out that there was a segment of the electorate that supported mcgarry and his message..... OR....Voting for mcgarry was not a vote 'against' tommasone, but rather a vote 'for' mcgarry.

this was one of those WTH???? articles with holes in it!!!

Rotterdam politics always has to make it personal!! UGH! Only in rotterdam!!!

Is Buchanan still the head of the party?  Why not get Lazzari--she seems to head and shoulders above all the others...though she may be off-base on McGarry being a good choice.  He has already angered Hamburg St. business owners.

It doesn't matter if he has angered the Hamburg St. gang. He could go over there and take a dump on the center line of Hamburg street and it won't make matters any worse. Members either staunchly support the democrap admin because the leader is promised a huge county funded "Central-Dispatch" facility in the Grand Union building (it will never happen BTW,) or they are tied in tight with the Gelosos who are staunch democraps, or are democrap activists themselves, or live outside of town and can't even vote. Even though the new IDA has done nothing for Hamburg unlike the ST admin's IDA (facade grants) they will remain steadfastly loyal until the day when reality hits, and they realize that they are being ignored, used and taken for granted by the Savage-led county legislators and the town democraps. They may continue to be a massive cash cow that will be milked until the teets come off, but they will go down to the bitter end before admitting they got screwed. How is the Revitalizing of Rotterdam looking for you now?

Their people run it all from President Obanga, to Congressman (Taxin' Tonko) to the 2 Senators, Guv, Assembly, and county/town. Every seat except Senator. Of course the democrap party will blame the one odd man out (Farley) and of course the fools will deny reality and believe them when they continue to be the red-headed stepchildren of lore. So, no- they will not back McGarry or anyone else TJ tells them not to back...because "soon, we will build your dispatch center and pave Hamburg St with gold, and put in sewers for free!!!!"

It all went downhill for ST when he changed his allegiance in his own party. Actually, the entire rotterdam rep party went down hill after that.

The cops chief and his family never backed him, they always backed democraps, because they are liberal democraps and follow TJ who is also an Obamite liberal democrap. Duh.

Well it looks like TJ didn't fair so well when it came to the taxing district for rotterdam rems now did he? Looks like he's lost some credibility in the county now too!!!

The Central Dispatch at Grand Union will come on the same day as the Sheriff's Sub-Station in Duanesburg. When you gonna wake up and admitted you've been snookered? The DEMS only care about feathering their nests and passing the bill onto you.

Just like rotterdam's old draper school! The one that was taken off the tax role for veteran housing?? When's that happening?

If these rotterdam officials were really concerned with hamburg street...........that gin mill would have and should have been built at the old grand union location. Not in an already over crowed mix of properties area of rotterdam. If they wantedto bring more business and traffic to hamburg street....this would have been the solution!

It wouldn't of helped the property values of the IDA chair if it was built that far from his property! Don't be silly Bumble. Only in Rdam do you get deals like that!

Or the Duanesburg library expansion that was promised by a candidate during an election several cycles ago.

When was the last time ANYONE saw any of their county reps that supposedly represent them?

Abolish the county leg and form a board of supervisors!!!!! Have 'direct' representation, get rid of the unnecessary layer of government and save taxpayer's money in salaries and benefits!!! It's a no brainer folks!

I doubt one in a hundred residents could name all of their County legislators. In the City more like one in a thousand. We need to return to a Board of Supervisors-at least people would know their representative. The savings would be significant and no one would miss the old system.

The County Legislators meetings are blasts from the old Soviet Union. No debate, no public comment, no one cares, Landslide slams the gavel and everything passes unanimously.
