Law enforcement agencies are targeting shoppers this weekend who park in spots reserved for drivers with disabilities.
All day Friday and ending Saturday at 10 p.m., police in agencies throughout Albany County will participate in "Project Access," a coordinated effort to ticket motorists who are not disabled and park illegally in handicap spaces.
The weekend initiative, coordinated by the Albany County Traffic Safety Board, is the 45th saturation effort held in the county since the program began in December 1994. Since that time a total of 2,134 tickets were issued, resulting in nearly $240,000 in fines.
Less than 48 hours, Albany collects $240,000 in revenue.
Why can't / doesn't Schenectady do that?
Oh that's right, there's no retail areas that people are flocking to. My bad.
So true, but we like Barnes and Noble and get good discounts, good savings. Wife swears by Bed BAth and Beyond with the 20% off coupons. and likes the selectionm, says no place can she find the variety of kitchen gadgets as there. Target is a bit pricey and Walmart is crap. Wish Penneys and/or Boscovs would come to Schenectady. Sears is OK but we like the Colonie store better.
Schenectady doesn't have the brains to think of how to make money unless it's taking money by raising taxes on the financially struggling homeowners in the city, isn't that right, DV?
Optimists close their eyes and pretend problems are non existent. Better to have open eyes, see the truths, acknowledge the negatives, and speak up for the people rather than the politicos and their rich cronies.
