My family and I enjoyed watching Sarah Palin's Alaska on the Travel Channel.   It is a beautiful
state with a lot of natural beauty to be enjoyed.

One of these years, I hope to drive the Alaskan Highway through Canada up into Alaska.

Palin"s Alaska... a job that Sarah Palin is well suited to and she seems comfortable with... It fits her personality.

Agreed...

I was excited when Palin was chosen to run for VP.. A fresh face, new ideas, etc.
Now, she should stay as an ambassador for Alaska and republican fundraiser.

She isn't dumb, far from it. But she does not have the interest or dedication to study world or national affairs/policy and become an expert on it. She's like so many kids that like the idea of being something (i.e. President), but are unwilling to put in the work needed to get there.

They said the same thing about Ronald Reagan - yet the public image (pre-presidency) that he was not well
read .. was actually quite opposite from the truth.    Jane Wyman said that one of the reasons she asked
for a divorce from Reagan was because he spent too much time reading and wanting to discuss the political and other ideas he got from reading.

Personally, I don't buy the "Sarah doesn't read enough" argument.    And quite frankly, I have met a
number of politicians who try to come across as "well read" or that people assume are "well read" -- and the
fact is that once they get past the 2 or 3 sentences that their staff had them memorize -- they are actually
quite clueless.

She is quite a rock star in politics these days but her experience (although better than the fraud Obama's at the time of the last election) is thin seeing as she quit being Governor. I understood why she left, but she should have known that being a 1/2 term guv' would not look good on the resume for a presidential run...

persons with  "lesser resumes" have been elected president in the past

for that matter persons with better resumes have been elected and turned out to be lousy presidents

She might well be a good one. I am just saying that she will be excoriated for her lack of experience and the fact that she quit half way through.

that seems like a double standard .. considering the current occupant of the White House hardly took the time
to move into his US Senate office before he hit the trail running for president

I agree that he is the least 'experienced' president in modern history, but he talked and looked dignified and pretended to be a moderate that would work to heal division. Sadly, all intentionally misleading. However it was a situational vulnerability that cause the voters to flip his lever. I know several Republicans who were certain he would lead from the middle and self flagellate every day for voting for him. But the next election will be a different election than 2008.

I am anxiously awaiting Evan Bayh's decision on whether he will seek the Democratic nomination in
2012.   If he decided to enter the race,  I will volunteer to work on his campaign.

I agree that Alaska is unique... but as far as Palin representing Alaska... a poor choice.

If it were up to Palin, Alaska would be a toxic dump & oil field...
~• Palin opposed a clean water initiative that would have protected Bristol Bay from contamination by a mining operation.  (Bristol bay for which her daughter is named)
~• In 2007, she endorsed a toxic dumping plan by oil companies in Alaska's Cook Inlet.
~•  Palin was an aggressive advocate of building a massive $40 billion gas pipeline from Alaska's North Slope to Canada and eventually to the Lower 48.
~•  Palin was an early and enthusiastic proponent of drilling in the Arctic National Wildlife Refuge, and essentially anywhere else the oil industry wanted to go.
~•  As governor of a state with a rate of birth defects twice the national average, she did nothing to protect Alaskans from the toxic byproducts of mining and energy development.
~•  She sued the Interior Department over its decision to list the polar bear as a threatened species.

Alaska is a beautiful state, in spite of Sarah Palin... she has done little to protect the backdrop of her show.  For Palin, Alaska is just another prop to be used to promote her career.

Building the gas pipeline and the drilling on the ANWR -- are both items that I enthusiastically support.

As for politicians using there home state as a prop -- she wasn't the first .. and she won't be the last.

As for me, I am anxiously awaiting Senator Evan Bayh's decision on whether or not he is running for the
Democratic Presidential nomination in 2012.

For instance, our current one.

(joking - he did have some impressive things on his resume...  e.g, president of the Harvard law review...  But he is over his head right now, without a doubt.  He's never had to govern before, just debate and campaign, and occasionally vote something other than "present")

Evan Bayh seems like a really stand-up guy.  Unfortunately he'd probably have more luck running as a Republican in the general election.  The uber left will not let Obama lose a primary.  (But Obama would get decimated if Bayh ran as a Republican in the general.  But that's not going to happen so it's moot to even discuss it)

Sarah's hit show is on TLC {40} not the Travel Channel {43}. It's premier was the most watched show on basic cable. Check it out Just For the Halibut this week.

Everything Sarah Palin touches turns into ratings gold. Ditto for Bristol. As far as Presidential experience, the bar is now set so low, she would be over qualified. If the REPS were smart they would run Gov Christie. This could be another 49 State landslide.
