Washington (CNN) -- The number of Americans who say things are going badly in the country, at 75 percent, is higher than it has been on the eve of any midterm election since the question was first asked in the mid-1970s, according to a new national poll.
A CNN/Opinion Research Corporation survey released Monday also indicates that the economy remains, by far, the top issue on the minds of Americans. Fifty-two percent of people questioned say the economy's the most important issue facing the country.
"That's more than the deficit, education, health care, terrorism, energy, illegal immigration and the wars in Afghanistan and Iraq combined," says CNN Polling Director Keating Holland. "No other issue was named as the country's top problem by more than 8 percent."
The economy has been the issue most on the mind of Americans in CNN polling since the end of 2007.
The top concern remains unemployment, with 58 percent saying it's the most important economic issue facing the country today, followed by the deficit at 20 percent, and taxes and mortgages tied at 8 percent each.

Just one in four polled Americans say things are going well in the country today, with three-quarters saying things are going poorly.
"Even in 1994, when the Republicans last took control, and in 2006, when control flipped back to the Democrats, roughly half the public was satisfied with the state of the nation," adds Holland. "Only 25 percent say that things are going well in the country today, and voters appear poised to take it out on the Democrats on Tuesday."

He's got 2 more years, tho he won't have the super-majority in both houses during that time. Then, fortunately, he WILL be out. We've already ejected most of the scum that's risen to the top of his "Pond of Change" - (Rahm, et al), tomorrow Nancy and Harry will be dethrowned and we can get on with the business of running the country.
Listen Bush was a nightmare and he has driven the country and the economy into the ground. Why would you want to go back to his foolish ways. Not sure Harry is going to lose. And although I bow to your political savvy, this may not be as bad as we all think tomorrow.
Obama is a 1 term and out president and after he's gone the health-care bill needs to be repealed and a new health-care bill needs to be drafted and it has to be done right this time. No more lies like if you like your health-care you can keep it, there will be no rationing of your health-care, and it's going to cost much less and save the Federal Government money because we can't afford health-care the way it is. Any Dem who voted for that bill deserves to be voted out of office at we the peoples earliest convenience which is tomorrow.

Do people who are too lazy to work or get a good education deserve to take my health-care and leave me with an inferior health-care package when I worked my whole life for the one I have now, because that's what's happening. I've already been told by my health-care provider that I'm going to lose my current health-care for Medicare only and my current secondary provider will not be provided. I also will lose my prescription drug plan that I desperately need and be forced into Medicare Part D for all my drugs. Obama has taken what I've worked for and given it to his voters that would rather sell drugs than get a real job and to give it to illegals who have not paid a dime into the system.
I know a guy who makes $75,000 a year... a hard working businessman, who has a pre-existing condition. He is unable to afford health care insurance. Not lazy, not on welfare, not a freeloader... just an American businessman who was self employed, until his health forced him to end his business and work for someone else.

If the health-care bill is repealed and done right people with illnesses will be covered just not the illegals and people who have the money and refuse to buy health-care but instead buy boats, expensive cars, 4 wheelers, etc. The poor will always be covered. This is a bad bill when you really look at the details hidden inside buried in the 2500 pages that nobody read.
