I believe that the GOP will at least regain control of the US House of Representatives .. and probably come very close to regaining the US Senate -- it will end up 51-49 (either Dem or GOP) or 50-50. That will make it next to impossible for any major legislation to pass Congress -- call it gridlock or whatever. With 34 Senate seats and all the House up for election -- I am sssuming that a number of "familiar faces" will leave the stage after the election and be replaced by a possibly large sea of new faces .. some destined to become the major voices and leaders of BOTH the Democratic and Republican parties -- and who knows, maybe a new third party.
More interesting will be the results of Gubernatorial and State Legislative races across the country -- since this is where the "pool" for future national leaders is located. Also, the state legislatures will be redrawing House district lines next year. The "pool" of future national leaders and the way the house district lines are redrawn will set the ... tone or complexion .. of the political map for the next decade. |
