Capitol Confidential
State Dems shift resources, but Savage keeps workers
Saturday, October 16, 2010 at 11:50 AM by Rick Karlin in 2010 State Senate Election

It’s Standard Operating Procedure in any state legislative campaign: In a pinch, the state party will put resources toward their incumbent before assigning them to the party’s challengers. That’s what’s happening with Democrat Susan Savage’s challenge to incumbent Sen. Hugh Farley in the 44th Senate District.

Savage had been allocated about a half-dozen canvassers, who go door-to-door  through the Working Families Party field operations, which hires itself out to campaigns. But late last week they were told they were moving funding for that effort to another campaign.

The state Democratic Senate Campaign Committee, others have agreed, is increasingly worried about incumbents Darrel Aubertine in the North Country and Brian Foley in Long Island, and are pouring aid into those races.

“They decided to put those resources behind a couple of incumbents who were in trouble,” said a member of the Savage campaign.

But Savage’s people note that they don’t expect to lose any net number of workers — they’ve simply hired the locally based canvassers on the Savage campaign’s dime, rather than having the state Democratic party foot the bill. “We’re bringing a lot of them on,” said a campaign member.

What that means is that Savage in some ways is running around the track by herself, conducting a campaign that is largely independent of the state party. The Savage camp says they are in good shape, and in some cases are better organized than some of the races that are getting more state support.

For example, Team Savage has already made arrangements for 9,000 absentee ballots, and they expect to have 100 people going door-to-door on Sunday.

Women turned out in high numbers today to support Susan Savage.  The speakers were excellent.  Time for Hugh to go on a permanent vacation.

Basically this means that the liberal socialists know that Savage is in trouble and they don't want to dump anymore $$$$ in her campaign! Savage can spin it anyway she wants, but the truth is.....she is unelectable!!!

Women are turning the country into a socialized mess.....more women work either because of the break through the 'glass ceiling' or because of
the commonality of divorce or whatever.....but the need for daycare, eldercare etc is all from the 'woman's past jobs' as being a homemaker....
is it right? who knows.....but we must be very careful not to just take it as norm without consequences.......

Or they know she is ahead ... and could spare some workers for another race.

Rotterdam Dems are working their tails off for Susan and other candidates .. as are Dems all over the
44th district.    She has loads of volunteers working for her.

2 more weeks .. then we fire Mr. Farley and let him pay for his own trips to Disneyworld.

Are the Rotterdam Dems working their asses off in Saratoga, Montgomery and Fulton County's?  I don't think so. My source tells me its over. Farley in a cakewalk. At least Jimmy and George will get a bounce from the incumbent Senator from Niskayuna.

Women's groups in the other counties love Hugh. Pedro Espada is an absolute non factor upstate. Another wasted commercial bust.

Gerard should have ran again for his TB seat. tommasone should sit it out for another year or two. It doesn't matter what DellaVilla did.

Buchannan has clearly made his mistakes, but Parisi destroyed the rotterdam's reps!

As far as savage.....she's done!! IMHO

Some Rotterdam Dems are working for Susan in those areas.     I have been contacting voters in Fulton County   ... interestingly ... many of the Republicans in Fulton County that I have spoken with are fed up with Farley.  A few thought Farley had retired years ago .. because they never see him out in Fulton

Yeah, I am sure the ridge runners up in Wells and Northville can't wait to put her in. What do they do when you tell then you are from Schenectady?
