Now that the colors of Autumn are all around us, what are some of your favorite Autumn Day Trips.

I will start with 2 -

1)     Route 30 north to Speculator - a stop at the old the Speculator Department Store -- then dinner
at either Zeiser's , Melody Lodge, or the Oxbow Inn.

2)   drive to Stockbridge-Great Barrington-Lee    lunch at the Red Lion Inn  .. shopping in the many
shops in the 3 towns ... then  top it off with dinner at  The Pillar's Restaurant on Rte 20 in New Lebanon,
New York.

#3 -  Route 7 south from Stockbridge to through western Conn --- stopping at the Belgian pastry shop
in Kent  .. then on to Wilton, Conn  -- for lunch at either Orem's Diner or the Red Barn  (not the
fast food place a nice sit down fancy restaurant).
then across I-84 to Route 22 and meandering up Route 22 .. with stops at the organic farm stands
along  the way  --- then dinner at the Pillars in New Lebanon.

Who really cares what your private peccadilloes are?

"While Foreign Terrorists were plotting to murder and maim using homemade bombs in Boston, Democrap officials in Washington DC, Albany and here were busy watching ME and other law abiding American Citizens who are gun owners and taxpayers, in an effort to blame the nation's lack of security on US so that they could have a political scapegoat."

If you don't care .. you don't have to read it --- the category is  "chit chat about anything"  and as this
is still a free country ... I will chit chat about anything.

I like the leaf changing.....wish they were always changing......

...you are a product of your environment, your environment is a product of your priorities, your priorities are a product of you......

The replacement of morality and conscience with law produces a deadly paradox.

This coming weekend is a good weekend to visit  Olana .. home of Frederick Church ... down by
Hudson, NY.    The exhibit of Church's paintings from his visits to Jamaica and the Caribbean  will only
be up through the end of October.    This gives folks an opportunity to see these rarely displayed
works on display on the second floor of the great house -- the second floor itself is rarely open to the
public.

Take a drive down to Olana ... and then visit Hudson for lunch or dinner.

Of course --- if you travel down Route 9 ---- top at my favorite places along the Hudson ---
Franklin Roosevelt's home  "Springwood"  (actually it was his parents' home),   Val-Kill which was
Eleanor Roosevelt's home, and Top Cottage (the home FDR built for his retirement but never actually
got to spend the night at) ...... all these are in the Town of Hyde Park

Best place to stop and eat near Hyde Park --   Beekman Arms in Rhinebeck .. just north of Hyde Park,
This was FDR and his family's favorite local restaurant .. he ate there EVERY election night.
I love the place -- great food -- and for many years you could actually run into FDR's grandson eating
there ... he has since passed away.

BTW -   another FDR favorite restaurant was Saltsman's Hotel  in Ephratah, NY.    Roosevelt had
cousins who owned the Chevy dealership in either Canajoharie or Palatine Bridge ... and FDR tried
to visit them at least once a year -- and go for dinner at Saltsman's Hotel.
