But if that trip is to the hospital, via ambulance, you would prefer for others to pay for a major portion of your ride, instead of paying for it yourself, hence your support of the REMS tax district.

The major portion of an ambulance trip to a hospital is paid by the insurance company and/or the person riding in the ambulance. When my mother was ill the last year of her life ... and she had to go back and forth to Albany Medical Center ... her insurance covered only part of the $750 ambulance bill -- I paid the rest ----- by the way .. she lived in Schenectady so that was Mohawk ambulance to which the money was paid.
The ambulance district is calling for 10cents per thousand --- my home is worth $200,000 .. so that is $20 a year ---- the total raised from all taxpayers will be about $240,000 -- far from being the MAJOR PORTION of the cost of the ambulance service --- and it will be used for new ambulances and new equipment .. not salaries, benefits, and other operating costs.

So, they're getting $120,000 / yr from the town now. IF this tax passes, they're going to get twice as much ($240,000). I thought they weren't operating in the red now? If that's true, what do they need a 100% increase in stipend for?
