ALBANY -- Gov. Paterson stunned his own advisers by naming the New Jersey girlfriend of an embattled aide to a specially created job paying $165,000 a year, The Post has learned.

Paterson last week appointed Carra Wallace, 47, who has worked only four of the past 26 years at jobs in New York, under a law passed early this year that originated from within the governor's office -- and that her boyfriend help write.

In fact, that aide, Clemmie Harris -- who was blasted for "inappropriate conduct" in a recent investigation --urged the governor to hire Wallace, sources said.

The new law created a "chief diversity officer" for New York in the governor's office, with the state taking responsibility for enforcing newly toughened minority hiring and contracting with businesses owned by women and minorities.

Two sources close to the Paterson administration said Wallace, who has commuted from Hoboken to a high-level appointed job at the New York Dormitory Authority for the past two years, has been Harris' girlfriend and regular social companion during most of that time. Paterson's aides were unaware of the relationship until after the appointment was made, the sources said...............>>>>................>>>>.................http://www.nypost.com/p/news/local/gov_scandal_aide_gal_pal_in_job_XJy1jQzc90hqBcj2tkBZIM

DVOR is sure to give his fellow dem total support, right there??????

The state is in severe financial crisis, many retirements, and then layoffs coming, meaning less services, and the freewheel big spender dem gov is giving a $165K patronage job out there?  Do you know how many clerks could be hired in the DMV for that money so we wouldn't have to wait forever to talk to an employee?   DO you know how many bridge inspectors could be hired for that money so we never again have to have a Champlain bridge?

This is no different than the freewheel spending Savage giving out millions to rich people downtown so they can move employees from Hamburg St to Broadway, and so they can move employees from Rt 7 to Maxon Rd, and other stupid sh*t

Optimists close their eyes and pretend problems are non existent.
Better to have open eyes, see the truths, acknowledge the negatives, and
speak up for the people rather than the politicos and their rich cronies.

No matter how many clerks they hired at DMV or anywhere else, it wouldn't make a difference in quality of service. No matter how big the budget, how big the workforce, how big the salaries (and we have seen they are REALLY BIG) the government done things half as good for twice as much, and I am being generous.

"While Foreign Terrorists were plotting to murder and maim using homemade bombs in Boston, Democrap officials in Washington DC, Albany and here were busy watching ME and other law abiding American Citizens who are gun owners and taxpayers, in an effort to blame the nation's lack of security on US so that they could have a political scapegoat."

Dave aide's Jersey girl backs out of NY hire

ALBANY -- Gov. Paterson had egg on his face last night as he announced that the New Jersey girlfriend of one of his top aides had turned down her just-announced appointment to a specially created $165,000-a-year position.

Paterson, who a day earlier had defended the selection of Carra Wallace, 47, to the new post of state chief diversity officer, claimed Wallace had suddenly decided to "decline" the post of her own volition.

The withdrawal came three days after The Post disclosed that Wallace, who has worked in New York for only four of the past 26 years, was the longtime girlfriend of controversial Paterson aide Clemmie Harris and his regular social companion during most of the past two years she has worked at the state Dormitory Authority.

And it came two days after the state Public Integrity Commission was believed to have begun a preliminary investigation into whether Wallace's appointment broke state laws against favoritism.

"I'd like to thank Ms. Wallace for considering the historic position of New York's first chief diversity officer, for which she is profoundly qualified," said Paterson.

He said Charlotte Hitchcock, one of his senior aides, would assume the diversity officer's responsibilities..............>>>>........................>>>>..................http://www.nypost.com/p/news/local/dave_aide_jersey_girl_backs_out_2HydsYOyqDqIUcEA8Mnt0H
