For US Senate: DioGuardi

Last Updated: 4:21 AM, September 30, 2010

... Schumer and President Obama intend to do more damage next year.

DioGuardi could impede that -- especially if his election were to help deliver the Senate to Republican control.

A reliably conservative, common-sensical political veteran, he served two terms in the House from the northern suburbs in the late '80s -- proving himself to be a capable legislator.

His most notable achievement was the CFO and Federal Financial Reform Act, which strengthened the financial management of 24 major federal agencies by appointing a chief financial officer for each one.

DioGuardi, running on the GOP and Conservative lines, would bring fiscal expertise to Capitol Hill at a time when unrestrained spending has inflated the federal deficit and long-term debt to unsustainable levels.

He's not a household name. But he's running for a two-year term, and would have to face the voters again in 2012
At the very least, DioGuardi deserves a chance to prove he's up to the job.

Kirsten Gillibrand had her two-year tryout -- and she flunked.

New Yorkers deserve an independent senator, which is why Joe DioGuardi is the better choice.

Yeah Ron...the Post is such a terrible paper that it is the only one that has seen steady increases in circulation...and that will
continue as your preferred left wing rags continue to tank....because the Post is a NEWSpaper, as opposed to the glorified liberal
opinion journals otherwise known as the People's Gazette, the Times Useless, the New York Slimes and the Daily Snooze.

Senate candidates
set to debate live

TROY — Incumbent Sen. Kirsten Gillibrand is scheduled to appear with challenger Joseph DioGuardi during a live, televised debate.
The Oct. 21 debate will be carried live for all Time Warner Cable customers across the state at 7 p.m on NY1, YNN and NY Noticias. The debate will be hosted at Sage College's Bush Memorial Center in Troy.
Republicans selected DioGuardi, a former congressman, from a pool of three candidates during September's primary. He'll face Gillibrand, who is seeking her first full term in the U.S. Senate after being appointed to the position last year.

Whenever the "annoying fly" posts I am reminded of a famous comic routine involving Dan Akroyd
and Jane Curtin.

The "annoying fly" is such a pompous windbag.   She thinks she knows everything about everybody ..
but she doesn't.   She is so frustrated at her own inadequacies as a human being that she has to
lash out at everyone around her.

Yeah, it's a total rag that even endorsed Andrew Cuomo. This race will be closer than the "experts" think. Kirsten has done nothing but vote for the entire horrible Reid/Schumer/Obama agenda that has destroyed our Nation. At least Joe Dio is a CPA we need that in Washington. Not some Big Tobacco attorney like Gillenbrand.

Did you hear that right wing rag the NY Times endorsed Fulton County's Harry Wilson {R,C,I} for Comptroller?

Not only is Kristen Gillenbrand for abortion on demand-she voted AGAINST an amendment which would have stopped Federal funding for abortions as part of Obamacare. Of course she also supported horrible Obamacare.

The pro life community must rally around CPA, pro-life Joe DioGuardi. With REPS sweeping the Nation Gillenbrand must go.

Personally,  I have never met Senator Gillibrand .. I did meet Mr. DioGuardi  --- he seemed to me to be
a genuine guy and raised some very good issues in the campaign.   I like the fact that we have a upstater
as one of our US Senators  BUT  I have reservations about the 180 degree turn she made on a number of
issues since being elevated to the US Senate.
Speaking freely on the subject,  I could understand if a person gradually shifted in thinking over a decade or  so  --- but to go from one of the more conservative members of the House to one of the more/most liberal   members of the Senate in less than a year sounds suspicious to me.   I may take some heat for saying that
publicly but that is how I feel on the subject.

Benny where di you get that from?  I knew Gillebrand when she was at Holy Names.  SHE has the potential to become President.  She is young enough in politics to go the distance.  Whether or not she is smart enough for it is another question that still needs to be answered.  She is a bit conservative for me.  DioGuardi is a fa-t in the wind.  This will not be a close race.  What are you people smoking.

The reason Gillibrand changed from her conservative ways so fast is due to the fact the Dems were going to primary her if she didn't do exactly what Upchuck Schumer wanted her to.

If Obama could win I guess anything is possible. I find it hilarious how some on the left promote this Big Tobacco/HUD attorney as some kind of great Senator. Cause she's a woman?

Senator Moynihan and Senator Javits were great Senators. Gillenbrand is a puppet of Schumer who voted to stop an anti-abortion amendment to Obamacare. A lot of idiots have graduated from Holy Names. My cousins come to mind. What are her accomplishments? Flipped on Second amendment rights, voted for Obamacare, supports Cap and Tax which will increase our heating bills 33%, supporting the porkulus. Maybe the REP will finally get it together and run Rep Peter King in 2 years.

I agree with BOTH Boomer and Shadow.

Gillibrand has the potential to go for higher office  AND she has shifted her ideology to avoid a primary this
time around.

I think Schumer will be reelected by a handy margin.   I think Gillibrand will probably win .. but by how much
is anyone's guess.    I think if DioGuardi had gotten more support  .. moneywise ... earlier on .. he could
have made it more of a contest.

Word of advice to the GOP -- dump your state chairman for someone more effective.
