Paladino to Appoint Blue-Ribbon Tax Cut Team by Carl Paladino on Tuesday, September 21, 2010 at 12:49pm
NEW YORK, NY - Buffalo businessman Carl Paladino, the Republican candidate for Governor of New York, announced today on WOR Radio's John Gambling show that he would appoint four leading economic experts to a temporary commission to advise his administration on immediate tax cuts including: former New York State Comptroller Edward V. (Ned) Regan; former economic advisor to President Ronald Reagan Larry Kudlow; former GOP Senate candidate and economist David Malpass; and former businessman now Erie County Executive Chris Collins.
"On November 3rd, the day after I beat Andrew Cuomo in the race for Governor, I will ask Ned Regan, Larry Kudlow, David Malpass, and Chris Collins to join a tax cut team that will advise me on immediate tax relief for New Yorkers," Paladino said. "I will ask these four eminent economic experts to come back to me in 60 days with immediate pro-growth tax cut recommendations. I will implement their recommendations in my first budget to achieve a ten percent cut in taxes for all New Yorkers."
"I have not discussed this assignment with any of these eminent New Yorkers but I am confident they would serve their state on a voluntary basis if asked," said Paladino.
"Andrew Cuomo says only that he will slow the growth rate of taxes. That means Cuomo will raise taxes. I will cut taxes by ten percent in my first six months and continue to cut taxes until the clock runs out on my administration," Paladino said. "That's a clear choice for New Yorkers: vote to raise taxes, or vote to cut taxes."
"Andrew Cuomo supports Obama Care which will cost New Yorkers millions in new taxes," said Paladino. "Now Cuomo refuses to cut taxes-the choice is clear."
Paladino's five point plan to save New York includes a ten percent tax cut; a 20 percent cut in spending and the size of State government; cutting Medicaid by $20 billion by slashing optional benefits and attacking waste, fraud and abuse; cutting taxes on New York businesses that create or retain jobs; and investigating and prosecuting corruption running rampant in Albany.
Carl Paladino, a successful Western New York real estate developer and attorney, is a Republican candidate for Governor of New York. He petitioned his way into the Republican Primary and canvassed to create a new Taxpayers ballot line. On September 14th, he swamped his opponent Rick Lazio with a 62-38 win in the Republican primary - a mandate for leadership of the Republican Party.

Ned Regan is a good choice for such a blue ribbon team.
The sticky problem that Mr. Paladino will face - if elected - is how to get the State Legislature to go along with his plans. Governor Paterson did a great job outlining the problem the state faced ... did a mediocre job presenting his plans but he did have a plan .. and then the State Legislature did what they (of both parties) have done well for years ... absolutely nothing.
We would really need to unseat all or most of the incumbent State Legislators to have any chance of meaningful change in Albany. |

We can only hope that the people will vote as many of them as they can out of office. |

If we are to unseat ALL of the incumbent State Legislators that means that Senator Hugh "double dipper/do nothing" Farley will have to be unseated, too -- vote for Susan Savage for Real Change in Albany. |

If Sue wants to stop her tax and spend mentality, and cut spending, reduce the size of government, and balance the budget something she has been opposed to in Schdy maybe we'd vote for her. |

She has cut the county tax rate in 3 of the past 5 years .... and has had balanced budgets in all of those years --- so I guess that means you will be voting for Susan Savage for State Senate. |

If that were true Schenectady would have much lower taxes, money to repair/replace infrastructure, pave roads, and people would want to move here. Instead people are leaving and the crime in the city continues to rise. |

The decline of Schenectady County has been going on for about 50 years ... you can't expect the whole thing to be turned around overnight. One reason that people leave is JOBS .. or lack of them. During the 1940's -- GE employed over 40,000 employees and ALCO employed probably half as many people. ALCO employs 0 today and GE employs less than 5,000. If federal, state, and local levelsof government worked together better .. we could create jobs -- that would go a long way to keeping our young folks here and attracting new people to oure area. |

I don't call a PROPOSED .02% decrease a "cut". I consider that election year politicking. Balanced budgets by drawing from formerly overcharged reserve funds isn't "balancing" it either. |

I checked Webster's Dictionary a DECREASE is the same as a CUT --- I think most 2nd graders would understand that concept. |

Since the statements about GE and ALCO employment levels is 100% accurate - a matter of the historical record --- there is no reason NOT to agree with the statement -- unless you are a looney who lives in his/her own fantasy world of conspiracies and negativity. |
