gad·fly   /ˈgædˌflaɪ/  Show Spelled
[gad-flahy]  Show IPA

–noun, plural -flies.
1. any of various flies, as a stable fly or warble fly, that bite or annoy domestic animals.
2. a person who persistently annoys or provokes others with criticism, schemes, ideas, demands, requests, etc.

It is easy to constantly criticize others who are trying to govern than it is to actually be a REAL leader
which means coming up with positive suggestions, rolling up your sleeves and getting your hands dirty
by actually working to make your community better, and having to make the very tough unpopular
decisions -- including balancing budgets.

Rotterdam needs fewer gadflys and more real leaders  (and people willing to WORK WITH our elected
leaders rather than just be a persistent annoyance to them.)

DVR--GAdfly is a REAL LEADER.  You just don't like her brankd of leadership.  And for a Dem, you are pretty much a Republican so I don't think you should criticize her.

A real leader would spend her time BUILDING UP rather than TEARING DOWN the community that he/she
lives in.

Challenging policy pushed by this gang of idiots isn't "tearing down" the community.  Backslapping and at-a-boys in return for patronage jobs isn't "building up" OR 'leadership".  It's being a party stooge in return for a job.  I don't recall you "building up" the community during the Tommasone Administration.

So is everyone who disagrees with the direction the present rotterdam administration is going in..... GADFLYS????
So is everyone who disagrees with the direction the present rotterdam administration is going in .......ANNOYING?

Well then there are many many many GADFLYS and ANNOYING people who live and vote in rotterdam. It is unfortunate and shameful for you to label the electorate in such a manner!!!

Times have changed DVR!! No more brushing things under the rug and pushing through legislation and tax increases without the electorate being informed. People are smarter, more informed and vocal on who runs their town and how their tax dollar is being spent!

If this were just a few years ago, the REMS taxing district would have slid through before the residents of rotterdam ever knew what hit them!!!

Don't underestimate those ANNOYING GADFLYS!!!...K?

I accepted Mr. Tommasone's invitation to be a part of the Parks and Recreation Commission -
which cite as an example of trying to "build up" the community.

My appointment by Mrs. Esposito has nothing to do with "back slappng" or "at-a-boys" .. in fact,
I have publicly disagreed with the current administration on a few occasions -- so if anything ..
by becoming First Deputy Town Clerk, I will have to remain publicly silent during Town Board
meetings  (which I can assure you will not be easy).
The fact is that Mrs. Esposito feels confident in my abilities to run the Town Clerk's Office in a professional and public service minded way.  She alone made the decision to appoint me.

How does Mrs. Esposito manage to make such important decisions in such poor health?  Shouldn't the residents be concerned that our ill Town Clerk is making these IMPORTANT town related decisions in such a state of mind?  Was there an interview process for deputy clerk?  Where did Mrs. Esposito conduct the interviews?  Who interviewed for the position?

Just as the dems and reps underestimated the tea party, so too will Rotterdam underestimate the "gadflys" of this town, to their own demise.

No faith in the TEa Party BS--but lots of faith in a Gadfly.  And btws--knowk off the Paladino crap.  He's a disgrace.  Mad as hell?  Why because he didn't get a chance to send out more porn before he got caught?  He's a mean-spirited, doesn't play nicely, kind of candidate.  Wants to act like he's a no nonsense guy who will get things done.  Looks like he is just a fool.  He will lose.

Gadfly and I don't always agree, but the town is better because of citizen involvement and her outspoken commitment to good governance. Only tyrants want to stifle dissent.

"While Foreign Terrorists were plotting to murder and maim using homemade bombs in Boston, Democrap officials in Washington DC, Albany and here were busy watching ME and other law abiding American Citizens who are gun owners and taxpayers, in an effort to blame the nation's lack of security on US so that they could have a political scapegoat."

No one is suggesting that "dissent be stifled" -- just suggesting that it is more difficult to work
for positive change  ... and a lot easier just to criticize those who try to make a positive
difference.

You are here banging on her in effort to shut her down. That is a tactic tyrants use when they are in the ruling majority and citizens are speaking against them. I have seen it done repeatedly by bullies in town hall and elsewhere. Not everyone is sucking the conservative-democrap party dick these days and revolt is growing under your noses in places you least suspect. Attacking her is not wise and reflects even more poorly on your band of police sponsored thugs.

All of those ANNOYING GADFLYS, and there are many many of them, find it difficult to work for change they don't believe in!!!! In fact they WON'T AND SHOULDN'T!!!

You irresponsibly inject the word 'criticize' in your post! Again shameful!! People of rotterdam are very very very unhappy with this democratic town board and the direction they are leading their town in. They don't see ANYTHING positive in it at all!! And they will not sit back and stay silent.

And the ANNOYING GADFLYS also recognize the lack of leadership from FDG.....there is NONE!!! The entire town board is a laughing joke!!! ND is the only one who has emerged victoriously!

Again...........catch up to speed here. Rotterdamians are smarter and more informed than they ever were. So get use to it....k?
