Ice cream ad banned as "offensive" to Catholics

(09-15) 08:39 PDT LONDON, United Kingdom (AP) --
Britain's advertising watchdog has banned an Italian ice cream ad featuring a pregnant nun, saying it causes offense to Catholics.
The magazine ad for ice cream maker Antonio Federici showed the nun eating a tub of ice cream, with text that read: "Immaculately conceived ... Ice cream is our religion."
The Advertising Standards Authority said Wednesday it has received 10 complaints from magazine readers who said the ad was offensive to Christians. The agency said imagery used to illustrate immaculate conception was likely to be seen as mocking the beliefs of Roman Catholics.
The Italian company said the idea of conception represented the development of their ice cream and the ad aimed to gently satirize religion.

As a Catholic, I would say that it is probably "borderline" .. but not offensive. 10 complaints shouldn't cause an ad to be banned. |

How many riots have been held over this? Has a price been put on the creative director's head by a Cardinal in northern Europe? |

So if I make a statement about ALL Catholics based on the actions of a few I am wrong...
But If I make a statement about All Muslims based on the actions of a few I am Correct. |

In your case, you would probably be wrong in both instances. |

No, Box, it is just that ISLAM gets "insulted" it results in mayhem, threats and death and violence. When Roman Catholicism gets insulted there is nothing but a press release and a statement, and no one gets threatened with death. How is that relativism and moral equivalency working out for you and the world. You just don't want to admit what animals a large number of the blood thirsty bastards that follow Islam is. You don't want to admit that it is an world wide movement of hate and violence that grips the globe, instead of the peaceful religion that you leftists portray it as. |

ALL religions became and can become blood thirsty and have that title slapped on them for a few that were manipulated by THEIR GOVERNMENT OFFICIALS that is the SHAME on the heads of the religious leaders........
all governments know that to piss off and whip up some religious group into a froth is very easy to do......'creating' a movement via religion is a bad very very bad thing.....folks consider their religion as kin and that close to their heart(even if they never actually do the learning themselves)..... so to take their religion as their child and 'hold it hostage', 'beat it', 'threaten it', etc...of course there will be violence......any parent would kill for their child.......
as far as I am concerned NO RELIGION IS GOOD RELIGION.....if you have a religion---IT IS JUST THAT PERSONAL,keep it there....... |
