While Gramps & Gram are watching Hannity on Fox News, the next generation of viewers are watching Stephen Colbert and Jon Stewart.

Stewart educates his young viewers in the ways of FNC on a nightly basis, it is clear that he is the biggest long term threat to Fox News.

"It is no surprise than that Fox News, just like the GOP caters to an older audience. Sixty three percent of Bill O’Reilly’s viewers are over 50 years old, and 65% of Hannity’s viewers are over 50. Only 44% of the nation as a whole are over 50 years old, so the over 50 demographic is overrepresented on Fox News."

"Colbert and Stewart are educating an entire generation of younger viewers to critically think about what they see in the media. The long term health of Fox News is going to depend on their ability to attract and retain younger viewers. These are the same viewers that are watching Jon Stewart expose and mock Fox News on a nightly basis."

HaHaHa... "Critically think" - "Educating".  Pointing out irony using political satire isn't critical thinking - it's comedy.  Unfortunately, this generation can't tell the difference.  That's how we ended up with this disaster in the White House.  The Stewart/Colbert audience thought they were voting for the next American Idol.

I'm glad to see you liberals mocking the seniors.  That's a voting block you wanna piss off.  Unlike the Colbert and Stewart audience, seniors actually show up to the polls.

Its just proof that as you get older you get smarter..life experience does that.
If you take a typical 60 year old and go back 40 years, you're right in the flower power/vietnam era.. you would think that people this age would be dyed in the wool liberals, but they're not. Peoples political bent is not a constant..

Fox News has been able to hold its audience share because Republicans have been fleeing to the network. In 2002, Republicans were just as likely to watch CNN as they were to watch Fox News, but eight years later, 40% of all Republicans regularly watch FNC. Twelve percent of Republicans watch CNN and 6% watch MSNBC. Fox News does not lead the cable news ratings because there are more Republicans in the United States. They lead because they have been successful in consolidating the Republican audience.

I agree 55t, that's why they call that wisdom as we get older it teaches you to be able to see thru the lies. It was that same generation of people who fought for, died for, and built one of the greatest countries in the world.

not according to Box.. Since we killed too many innocent civilians ( dresden, A-bomb attacks), our leaders,
like Roosevelt, Ike, and Patton,  should have been executed for war crimes.

How do Colbert and Stewart educate when they are comedians?   The times that I have
watched them on tv -- less than 2 dozen -- they pretty much were doing a comedic monologue not
anything even approaching serious news or real informative tv.

Personally, I stopped watching  CBS, NBC, and ABC nightly news -- I watch Fox and then CNN -- and then
go back to the History Channel or TMC.

DVofR,
Ask any 18-24 year old... Both 'comedians' educate as they entertain.  They show Fox News Hypocrisy and Fox retaliates, even though it just brings more viewers to Colbert and Stewart.

For Fox News, Colbert & Stewart are the enemy.

Let me see if I've got this straight, the 18 to 24 crowd when properly indoctrinated by college professors, Colbert, and Steward will conform to your left wing view and hate Fox news. Now as soon as they get married, have a family, and hold down a real job, they get old, watch Fox News and become conservative because they don't want the government to waste all their money on taxes.

Those are comedy shows for college kids and 20-somethings. Of course they would have more young viewers. But just like nightclubs and hotspots, young people are fickle and want the newest things. Let us check back in 10 years and see where those two entertainers are then, or perhaps there will be other comedians to replace them. I remember when Eddie Murray, Rich Little and Andrew Dice Clay were the hottest comedians once too. I remember when Punk rock was really big, and I do recall bands with number one hits like the Flock of Seagulls attracting throngs of college kids.

Your foolishness gets worse and worse.

"While Foreign Terrorists were plotting to murder and maim using homemade bombs in Boston, Democrap officials in Washington DC, Albany and here were busy watching ME and other law abiding American Citizens who are gun owners and taxpayers, in an effort to blame the nation's lack of security on US so that they could have a political scapegoat."

Yes Shadow... With your keen grasp on the issues, there's no getting by you!

If these shows teach anything, they teach HYPOCRISY on Fox.
If you want to be educated (yes even by a comedian)
Watch this clip from Jon Stewart:

Fox at least reports news (granted with a right-wing bias - just as CNN has a left-wing bias) ..
Colbert and Stewart are not really reporting news -- just a "Saturday Night Live comedy sketch" posing as
news.

I watched - as a college kid and 20-something - news shows for news and comedy shows for comedy - and
was able to differentiate between the two.   I hope the young folks today are actually making such a
distinction.

If you think that Jon Stewart or the Colbert report are JUST COMEDY, you're mistaken.  They present news with a smile, but it IS NEWS.
Stewarts guests include:
# Joe Biden,
# Tony Blair,
# Jimmy Carter,
# Rosalynn Carter
# Bill Clinton,
# Hillary Rodham Clinton,
# Lynne Cheney

# Madeleine Albright,
# John Ashcroft,
# James Baker,
# Zbigniew Brzezinski,
# Steven Chu,
# Henry Kissinger,

# Dick Gephardt,
# Newt Gingrich,
# Dennis Kucinich, (
# Ron Paul,
# Nancy Pelosi,

# Michael Bloomberg,
# Rudy Giuliani,
# Ed Koch,
# Pat Buchanan,
# Gen. Wesley Clark
# Bill Kristol
# Bob Woodward and Carl Bernstein

# Bill Gates,
# Craig Newmark,
# Jeff Bezos,

A guest list that would match many 'news' programs.
Guests discuss the events of the day and often as serious as any news show.

Young American adults tune in for the comedy, but watch the NEWS.

All of those folks have appeared on  David Letterman and Jay Leno -- that doesn't make
Letterman and Leno shows .. news shows.

Colbert and Stewart are comedies .. and poor comedies at that.
