The BLS has announced that as a result of the Labor Day weekend, 9 states (among which the biggest one California) did not report initial claims data to the bean counters, so instead the government had to "estimate" what the data would have been: yep, estimate, what the data was in these nine states. From Bloomberg: "For the latest reporting week, nine states didn’t file claims data to the Labor Department in Washington because of the Labor Day holiday earlier this week, a department official told reporters. California and Virginia estimated their figures and the U.S. government estimated the other seven." Official data is now made up on the fly. This US economic data reporting has just entered the twilight zone. Also, when the data is officially made up, it is not that difficult to get data that is "better than expected." The full list of states is: DC, Illinois, Idaho, Hawaii, Oklahoma, Michigan, and Washington. California and Virginia estimated themselves. |

Read the whole AP article.(after the 1st 6 paragraphs)
Quoted Text
Last week, the government reported that the unemployment rate ticked up a notch to 9.6 percent in August from 9.5 percent in July, as the number of jobseekers swamped the number of job openings. Private employers in August added a net total of only 67,000 jobs in August. Job gains would need to be more than three times that to drive down the unemployment rate.
I don't think voters are responding to headlines. The grim fact is there is NO JOB CREATION. The fact that there are people losing their jobs at a slower rate isn't a reason to celebrate. |

Hopes rise as jobless claims fall... bad news for the GOP (YahooNews/AP) http://news.yahoo.com/s/ap/20100909/ap_on_bi_go_ec_fi/us_economy
wish upon a star, Box.. ;D I know as a lefty you are reaching for anything to rescue the Dems in November, but you're dreaming. They had to guess at 9 states who didn't report and I'm sure they estimated up. You wanna bet the next jobless report that comes out there will be an "expected rise" in claims? Oh, that's right, you don't take bets... The Dems are already in panic mode and have gone negative...using everything from tying repub candidates to Bush, to hitting their anti-abortion stance, and everything in between. Ummm the Dems... party of hope? LOL, more like party of fear! They're even eating their own.. abandoning candidates that are too far behind in polls...laughable, sad, and typical all at the same time. |

You know that song by the Everly Brothers... |
| "While Foreign Terrorists were plotting to murder and maim using homemade bombs in Boston, Democrap officials in Washington DC, Albany and here were busy watching ME and other law abiding American Citizens who are gun owners and taxpayers, in an effort to blame the nation's lack of security on US so that they could have a political scapegoat." |
