The Town Clerk is elected for a 4 year term .. last election was 2009 ... next one is 2013 .. that is just
simple math.

$50K a year for a no-show Town Clerk, multiplied by 3 more years, equals $150K Rotterdam residents pay for the no-show clerk.  Yes, simple math.  The Town Board needs to address this.  And not by hiring MORE people to do EE's job.

I was just stating the fact that there is NOT a scheduled election for Town Clerk until 2013.   So any
speculation as to who is running in 2013 is way too early.  As for hire "more" people --- the plan had
been for the current First Deputy to move to a different position in the town ... but that since that person
changed  his/her mind about leaving ... the rest of the plan is on hold.

Ron I think you need to get your facts straight. From Salamone's website: http://salamoneforrotterdam.com/About_Frank.html

Frank Salamone has devoted himself to public service throughout his entire life. He started Cub Scouts at a young age, and progressed through the ranks, ultimately achieving the rank of Eagle Scout with Troop 32 when he was a senior in high school. Frank continues to serve as a member of the Troop 32 Committee, as an adult volunteer. When he was a student at Utica College of Syracuse University, Frank was a founding member of, and founding treasurer of, the Make-A-Wish Foundation's Student Wishmaker program on campus.

Seems like he has a history of community service....

Great resume.........but he won't win. Who endorsed him any way? Was there no one else who would run?

First you say:

Mr. Salamone has a track record of  verbally tearing down our town and its officials ... no track record of working WITH or FOR
the residents.    No record - thatI know of - of community service.

Then you say:

Not as long a history as his opponent.

Very typical..."that I know of..." I think you own Salamone a public apology, Ron.

No apology necessary -- as I qualified my comment as you have mentioned.
Besides ... Love means never having to say "i'm sorry".

It figures that you would take a small attempt at humor  -- "love means never having to say "i'm sorry"."
and turn it into a delirious rant.

Having EE sit home at the taxpayer's expense just shows the arrogance and ineptness of this town board AND EE herself!! They are a joke!!

Ron says Salamone is all negative and how great the current board is, yet the only person that has said anything close to standing up for democratic principles is Salamone. He was quoted again in the paper today saying that all residents should vote on the Ambulance District. THAT is the democratic process. Limiting voting rights to landowners brings back memories of voting rights being enjoyed by rich land-owning white males only. That is unacceptable Ron.

For everyone that has forgotten, here is the video of Salamone arguing for letting everyone vote the last time this was brought up.

I think the title of this thread -- Salamone vs. Rotterdam -- is all the reason that folks need to vote
for Wayne Calder for Town Council.       Mr. Calder is FOR  Rotterdam .... for building it up ... working
positively and constructively WITH the residents to keep moving the town forward.    Mr. Salamone has
a track record of  verbally tearing down our town and its officials ... no track record of working WITH or FOR
the residents.    No record - thatI know of - of community service.
The choice is clear  ..
[/face]WAYNE CALDER FOR TOWN COUNCIL[face=Times]

Not sure how filing suit against the town when they are doing things illegally isn't for the citizen (assuming he wins).  If it is found the officials did things wrong and he or anybody knows this and files suit, well I guess that would keep the "officials" honest, so can't say he isn't working for the citizens until you know a judge/court says they did nothing wrong, just building up the town as you claim Mr. Calder may do is only good if it is done the correct way, if illegal it is not constructive....and maybe he could do some comminuty service in the clerks office (work for free, lol if you know what I mean, lol)
