It's still a hole. Instead of using $ and resources to address the problem, they hand selected one business on the street to receive a new building and a new lease on life when they threatened to move out of the
county.
So what now - leave it an empty hole for the next administration? Or will they step up and address the issue?

Metroplex did not "hand select" Marcella's -- Marcella's was looking to expand elsewhere and Metroplex
stepped up to help it stay in Schenectady and expand.
Combo's, Mont Pleasant Bakery, or any other small business could get Metroplex assistance if they were
expanding and creating jobs  -- the job creation is a criteria attached to Metroplex funding.
A criteria attached by those who created Metroplx -- and the creators were a bipartisan group.

Really? Then how do you explain the assistance to Lennon's Irish Shop? A mom & pop store that now exist due to Metroplex. No big business. Those are the type of shops Mt. Pleasant needs. Not the big Golub or Mallozi - because they would never dare open on Crane Street. You can't plant where the roots are dying.

If you read my post clearly ..I said that Metroplex WOULD help small businesses .. but job creation is part
of the criteria.

Funny how each time the integrity of the Plex is questioned, a newer, better loophole comes to light. Time to turn off the lights, you're wasting precious energy.

The plex is government extortion paid for by the taxpayers! Money is being doled out hand over fist. They just tell the people about only the 'few'!

Who is overseeing the bidding process for these so called developments? Are the lowest bidders awarded the job? Who, exactly is asked to bid these jobs? Are these bids awarded to UNION shops? How many are NON-UNION? How do the people of schenectady county gain REAL access to this info? Or do the people have to do their own investigating and depend on word of mouth....as usual?

You could file a freedom of information request since it is a public authority.

And you'll get a response about the same time the state returns the next audit

ROTTERDAM
Bank branch may rise on site of old Edgewood Restaurant

BY JUSTIN MASON Gazette Reporter

The former Edgewood Restaurant could be the next building in Rotterdam to face the wrecking ball.
Representatives from Pioneer Savings Bank will pitch a project to replace the longtime banquet hall with a 5,150-square-foot building and drive through on 1.23 acres off Altamont Avenue. In addition to demolishing the existing building, the developers are hoping to tear up much of the existing asphalt on the property, thereby cutting the number of parking spaces in half.
The new bank will also be located closer to Altamont Avenue and incorporate more green space than the existing structure. Town Planner Peter Comenzo said the applicant will need to seek a special use permit for the drive-through window in addition to the normal site plan review.
“In terms of redevelopment, it’s a good project,” he said Monday. ...............>>>>.................>>>>.............http://www.dailygazette.net/De.....r01004&AppName=1

Yes, what a TEAM!  How many Articles 78's are there currently against this Board?  And I hear they have yet another new employee in the Clerk's office.   How many Dems does it take to do the Town Clerk's job?

I can tell you 10000000000000000000000000000000000000000000000000000000000000000000% that FDG and the town had NOTHING TO DO WITH THIS. As a matter of fact I can also tell you with all certainty that the Recovery Room wanted to go there and was 'enticed" to move by metroplex to the corner with taxpayer dollars. So stop the bull$hit, the property has been for sale for a while and the bank has been considering purchasing for a long time and the two parties came to agreement with absolutely no help from any governmental entity. You are drinking too much Koolaid and think that if the sun comes out it the work of the local dem party.

I happen to know the owners rather well. You can bet the moon and stars on that.

I hate to tell this to socialists, but government and politicians normally don't do much at all except HINDER the private sector, yet whenever a job is created or a building is built the politicians (and their suckas$es) jump up and shout "HALELUJIA! LOOK WHAT I DID!"

If you want to credit something to local pols, then credit the murder spree and gang war that has been waging to the liberals and their personal police force in Schenectady that does their schilling via the conliberalitive party.

If you blame the administration for anything that goes bad -- you have to give them credit
for the things that go well.     RepubliCAN'TS are just jealous that these projects didn't come
through when they were in Town Hall.

You really have trouble reading, don't you. Just what we need, another politician who doesn't listen, hear or comprehend. You can thank God all you want, but he knows what is real and what is false even if you are too blind to.
