Well, I guess if it is "legal" then you don't need to take into consideration the insensitivity of the action. The Jews would obviously be considered bigots for voicing opposition to the idea of German heritage museum, Nazi heritage and all built next to Auschwitz.
Then the libs would take pictures of a Polish distillery that has been there 100 years prior to the Holocaust to justify it.

If Christian extremists killed 3000 people in your model of tolerance Indonesia, and a Christian group wanted to build a church two blocks from the death site, you're telling me the majority Muslim population wouldn't object? come on...

Nobody's talking about "banning" the Mosque. People are making a plea to move the location from the proposed site out of respect for the 9-11 victims. Just like when people plea to keep a Wal-mart out of their town. They don't like what Wal-mart represents, or the impact it will have on the community. Do people have the right to voice opposition to Wal-mart building in their town? Or are property rights ignored in such a case?
The 1st Amendment... Walmart isn't in it... Religion is.

Extreme Islam is what I would call it True, most are not. But they are also mostly silent in their objection of Al Queda. And further than that, several Mosques in the US have been money-trailed directly to Al Queda.

So if you are a property owner and your property is zoned to fit a proposed Wal-mart, and Wal-mart offers you hundreds of thousands of dollars for your land, can the town people protest the Wal-mart preventing it from buying your land, and you lose hundreds of thousands? Or are property rights reserved for religious buildings? Mob rule when it comes to big business.
