Get rid of this blog.  It has done more harm than good. The personal attacks and political vendettas given birth on this board is disturbing. I hope Joann will abolish this site. It has led to many false rumors, innuendos and bitter personal attacks. MaryM, Club, Bumble, Cicero, Spidey Mobile, Greenlantern, GrahmBonnet are hate mongers who have led to destuction of self and the Rotterdam GOP.  I can't take it anymore. My grandchildren wouldn't be amused

I mean it Voice. This blog is a big part of the demise of all parties. Gadfly ruined the conservatives from this perch. The NNTP was hurt by the blog and it had a lot to do with FDG winning. SHUT IT DOWN JOANN. Its time to abort Kelly's brainchild. .

sounds like there needs to be group meetings for many people on here, help find a cure to the common blogger, lol

constructive idea to improve the town :

buy the old V-Stream complex --- make some minor improvements ---
move the town hall, justice court, police department, and highway  department to that site

move the senior center and  boys & girls clubs into the current town hall

sell the  police department/justice court building, senior center building, highway department building,
and boys & girls club site  ... putting those properties back on the property tax rolls

Sure spend three million on a building then make "minor changes", So now we know Ron knows nothing about construction and use of space, not your profession Ron so truly nothing personal, but baaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaa bad idea, not to mention take a value commercial asset to the tax base off the role, worked well with the old Kmart on Curry, lololololol.......next idea

You seem pretty good at criticizing other ideas -- but you don't offer constructive ideas of your own.

As far as Curry Road Plaza - that site would make an excellent  site for a Municipal/Community Center...
but unlike the V Stream building which has a good standing structure . ...  the Curry Road site would
have to be completely demolished and a whole new building  built.

This thread is a big joke. While DVOR proposes more pie in the sky the County is fixin to slam the new County Home on Curry Rd. Glenville and the City will not allow it so it's coming this way.

Do you want a huge chuck of prime commercial property taken permanently off town tax rolls? If so continue to propose more half baked "solutions". The County is about to make a major town land grab while you spin cobwebs. This is your last wake up call.

shhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhh....don't mention the glendale home before an election!!!

The liberal socialists know that schenectady taxpayers wants the beast sold and privatized. That is why the liberal leninism socialists are staying as far away as they can regarding the glendale home before election.

Kinda like the rotterdam liberal leninism socialists postponing the budget public hearing until AFTER the nov elections????

I have said all along --- the deed restrictions on the old Curry Road Plaza make it next to impossible to
build any thing commercial on the whole 12+ acre site.
We actually have to live in the REALITY ... you can't wish that it would be somekind of retail center --
because the fact is  a) it has been on the market 22 years and NOT ONE even "half-baked" retail
proposal has been made for the site,  and b) the deed restrictions tie the hands of would-be developers..
it is easy for a bunch of Regressives and Nattering Nayboobs of Negativity to whine and complain -- and
wish it was something else  .. but  leaders must face reality and the limitations of that reality .. and then
make the best choices with the options remaining.

Using the Curry Road Plaza site for  EITHER ... a County Nursing Home  or a Town Civic Center
(town hall, police, justice court, highway department, and  multi-generational community center)  would
be GREAT options and are , in fact, about the only viable options left to us.

What happened to the Rotterdam IDA/Metroplex senior housing project and relocation of the bank propsal that they were hot to trot on prior to SS's announcement for the "new" county nursing home????

The proposal was to add property to the tax roll, NOT take it off . . . .

Here's the reality-because of strong opposition in Glenville and the City SS Savage is going to slam the new County Nursing Home on Curry Rd. You can keep making idiotic proposals that will go nowhere or join together to stop this County land grab. This will permanently harm taxpayers in Rotterdam. This prime commercial land must be kept private and on the town tax rolls.

Any town "leader' that supports this will be finished in politics. Montgomery and now Albany Counties are getting out of the nursing home business because it costs too much. Love the statement "can't be used for retail"-why? Because the County DEMS have raised the sales tax higher than any neighboring County.

Yeah, no one would dispute this.  Also keep in mind that the old Draper School was approved for the DAV.  That could have been used to go back on the tax roles, but the municipal leaders opted to keep it tax exempt.  Agreed there already is a lot of property off the tax roles.  Let the County pay the Town for the tax loss if they want the facility there.  You can't have your cake and eat it too!

This is why you see so many County legistators at Town meetings, and then they threaten to pull political support to the Board members if they don't play ball!

The senior housing project was never really "alive" -- it was an election year stunt.  It was "dead" before
the previous administration left office.  Someone should take the sign down.   Time to move forward
and look at the options on the table    ... among a few -- #1) use the site for a new county nursing home and #2) use it for a Municipal Center/Community Activity-Recreation Center ---  certainly other viable options should be looked at IF they emerge.

talking about a need for a county nursing home is a waste of time.....people have what they have because they have what they have.....the numbe of
senior living apartments have been going up 10fold for the past 5-10years.....why?......because healthcare doesn't want to pay for institutions....
it wants to subsidize......the county nursing home CAN be private.....the level of care will be such that no just any walkie-talkie can vie for a bed......as for
'memory-care places', that's an oxymoron..........

so the county can stop using it's poor seniors as podium pucks......

BTW....after national healthcare insurance is fully instituted, we will see the GIANT healthcare team union arise.....oh, and it will rival that of
the teachers union.......at which time I must find a new profession.......

Your Democratic members of the Rotterdam IDA along with Metroplex have been discussing the plans for the Senior Apartments on Curry all summer!   Here is the link for the minutes, check it out...it is obvious you don't know what is discussed at the RIDA meetings.  Apparently you are too busy at the computer thinking that you need to address each and every thread on this Forum.
