Unemployment insurance is not meant to be FOREVER.

Many of the unemployed will now get jobs, even if it means they are underemployed because SOME money is better than NO money. Later, most will find better jobs, and I wish them well. Of course, if we keep voting without doing our homework on the candidates, most of us might be underemployed eventually.

Do your homework before you vote, PLEASE.

I remember Elvis when he was a kid!

The modern conservative is engaged in one of man's oldest exercises in moral
philosophy; that is, the search for a superior moral justification for selfishness.

Yes cut unemployment benefits.  Keep thinking that will push people out to get jobs....lol.  WRONG!  High numbers of desperate unemployed citizens increases crime, not jobs.

There are 6 job seekers currently for every open position in America.  Keep thinking everyone is lazy because you are too old to be in touch with real America.

So illegal immigrants aren't doing the jobs Americans "won't do"? Maybe Americans need to start doing the jobs people say they are not willing to do.

Are you saying that if the unemployed American were faced with choosing between picking strawberries in a field or mugging a stranger to feed themselves and family, they'll pick mugging a stranger?  God, if that's true, our society has fallen quite far in 2 generations.

If the option is mugging someone and living here with my family or moving to OK or TX etc, and dealing with farmers then probably.

And no, you just chose to ignore what was going on.  Your generation just didn't talk about it.

The fact remains, that the unemployed and the taxpayers, who are now supporting them, are both victims of a failed government. Bothdems and reps who have, in the past and continue to this day, to bankrupt this country!!

We have become a pathetic product of a pathetic government that the pathetic people voted in. IMHO

I love when REPs (and Bumble you are close) complain about government intervention in the economy but then complain that the "failed government" hurt the people. Which one is it? You swing very libertarian with your views but you blame the government?

No, everyone is not lazy, but then there's human nature. I know a very hard-working man, who admitted that years ago he was on unemployment insurance, and did not get a job because he liked his paid vacation.  It happens.

Of course I blame the government. I am not a fan of government intervention. Especially when it is the government who has created this problem to begin with.....and then expects the taxpayers to bail them out.

From the failed Fannie Mae & Freddie Mac that we were warned about over a decade ago, to the Patriot Act that infringes on our free society, to bailing out private sector businesses with tax payer's money, to taking over private industries, to fighting another country's battles, to forcing our culture on another sovereign country..... It is endless............

Our failed government has put this country in the perils it is in today. IMHO

Ok we aren't forcing our culture on anyone...we bailed out private businesses to keep Amercians working.  I agree not all those businesses deserved the money (AIG), but several did (GM).  And while I oppose many things in the Patriot Act I can't see how it caused unemployment... you need to stay on topic.

Why did GM "deserve" the money?
