It isn't that serious and was handled exactly as it should have.  This general and his staff got a little punchy when stuck in another country (France) because air was ground (Volcanic ash) and said some things that were very stupid.  He complained Biden's strategy was short sighted before publicly and got his a** reamed.  He just can't shut up and has been known to speak his mind a little too openly in the past.
