From a release by the Albany County Republican Party:
“Albany County small business owner Ted Danz will announce his candidacy for United States Congress on Saturday, June 5, at 10 a.m., at the Guilderland Elks Lodge, located on Route 146 in Guilderland.
Danz is the owner of the Family Danz Heating and Air Conditioning company, a well known Capital District business which employs more than 50 people.”
Danz will face off with incumbent Democrat Paul Tonko in the fall election to represent the 21st Congressional District, which includes all of Albany, Schenectady, Montgomery and Schoharie counties and portions of Rensselaer, Saratoga and Fulton counties.
I have met Mr. Danz a few times. And although it was never politically connected, he seemed to be a genuine, all around person with a good head for business.
So although I don't know his politics, his character, seemed honest and genuine. We'll see in time of course.

He would be great for the district, but Tonko will waltz his way to a victory. If people could only understand how Tonko's political career has cost them a ton of money over they the years while he is double dipping.
21ST CONGRESSIONAL DISTRICT Danz plans to run against Tonko for Congress Businessman cites experience in ‘real world’ BY JUSTIN MASON Gazette Reporter Reach Gazette reporter Justin Mason at 395-3113 or jmason@dailygazette.net.
When U.S. Rep Paul Tonko was launching his political career as a member of the Montgomery County Board of Supervisors in 1976, Ted Danz was hard at work starting his fi rst business. Danz founded a heating and cooling company where he and his mother, Lucille, were the only employees. Now, more than three decades later, Family Danz Heating and Air Conditioning is a well-known business in downtown Albany that employs roughly 50 people. Danz is seeking the Republican nomination to challenge Tonko for the 21st Congressional District seat. The Altamont man said he’s running for office in an attempt to bring a dose of real-world experience to Capitol politics. “The solution to fixing a government that is broken is not more of the same as my opponent seems to believe,” he said, “In this race I will clearly delineate the differences between the real world that most of us live in and the ivory tower that Mr. Tonko occupies in Washington, D.C.” Danz is slated to speak at the Schenectady County Republican Women’s Club at 6:30 this evening in the Calvary Tabernacle Church on Albany Street in Schenectady. He announced his candidacy earlier this month at an event in Guilderland. Since that time, his campaign has portrayed Tonko, D-Amsterdam, as a career politician who can’t relate to average citizens. Danz said today’s Congress seems to increasingly limit the freedoms that allowed him to become a successful businessman. “I am running for Congress because I see those opportunities being taken away by a government run by professional politicians who have no concept of how the average person thinks or what challenges regular people face,” he said, “I understand the views of the average person better than anyone — because I’m one of them.” ....................>>>>.................>>>>..................................http://www.dailygazette.net/De.....r01500&AppName=1
Fading under pressure... It would appear that Ted is already feeling the pressure of his first ever election campaign... (and it's only August). Health problems have forced Ted to cancel many appearances, and reschedule many more in the future.
It makes you wonder if Ted is up to the task.
