Cuomo backers, including some Republicans, welcome candidate in Amsterdam
Saturday, August 7, 2010
By Edward Munger Jr. (Contact)
Gazette Reporter

AMSTERDAM — State attorney general and gubernatorial candidate Andrew Cuomo received a warm welcome from Democrats and some Republicans Friday during a campaign visit at the Elks Club in Amsterdam.
Cuomo intends to visit all 62 New York counties on his “Drive for a New New York” campaign tour.
Mayor Ann Thane thanked those in attendance and Centro Civico, the Latin-American community organization, for co-sponsoring Cuomo’s visit Friday.
She said as attorney general, Cuomo has shown the ability to accomplish needed goals including student loan reform and cracking down on health-care and mortgage fraud.
“Andrew is about getting things done,” Thane said.
Supporters attending the event Friday included Minden Town Supervisor Thomas Quackenbush, a Republican.
Quackenbush pointed out other Republican supporters in the crowd of about 50, including Canajoharie Mayor Leigh Fuller, Fort Plain Mayor Guy Barton and Canajoharie Trustee Garth MacFarland..............>>>>...............>>>>.........http://www.dailygazette.com/news/2010/aug/07/0807_cuomoamsterdam/

Quakenbush? Wasn't he the turn coat who backed Amedore's opponent last year? Did he endorse Obama too? Why does the democrap run media let him get away with calling himself a "republican' when he supports all the republicans? Why, because that is the BOX he checked off on the card at DMV? Any lying and treacherous scum can do that and call themselves anything they want. I would love to run into him some time but I don't need any pig sh*t to buy from his pig sh*t stand out there in Minden. What a fake jerk. That is what I would tell him to his face.

The rest are supporting a muslim takeover of the 911 site. How nice. It is great to jump on a winning bandwagon-any winning bandwagon.

"While Foreign Terrorists were plotting to murder and maim using homemade bombs in Boston, Democrap officials in Washington DC, Albany and here were busy watching ME and other law abiding American Citizens who are gun owners and taxpayers, in an effort to blame the nation's lack of security on US so that they could have a political scapegoat."

NYSUT chalks up a 'no' to Cuomo for now
By JIMMY VIELKIND Capitol Bureau
Published: 11:30 p.m., Thursday, August 12, 2010

ALBANY -- The politically potent union New York State United Teachers has declined to endorse Andrew Cuomo in his quest to become governor, a blow to the Democrat's ongoing efforts to win an endorsement from the larger AFL-CIO and an indication that NYSUT will square off against Cuomo as he pushes a fiscally conservative platform.

"Obviously, we could find little in common with (GOP challengers) Lazio or Paladino, and in the case of Andrew Cuomo, you know, he's been a strong supporter of education, of labor and social justice in the past, but when we look at his positions now -- especially on issues such as tax caps, constitutional convention and the size of the public work force -- we have serious issues," said NYSUT President Richard Iannuzzi. "We may revisit (but) we're not committed to revisit it, and if nothing changes then this will remain our position going forward."

Cuomo has been endorsed by several private-sector unions, but NYSUT is the first public-sector union to position itself on the sidelines.......................>>>>..........................>>>>.......................http://www.timesunion.com/local/article/NYSUT-chalks-up-a-no-to-Cuomo-for-now-614172.php

Has anybody ever heard the phrase "the enemy of my enemy is my friend"?  You go Andrew!  We may actually have a choice of candidates from BOTH parties that understand public unions are sinking this state.  Let's hope this isn't just empty campaign rhetoric from Andy.

Oh what a show they are putting on. They ought to get an Oscar. Don't be so easily fooled. Soon the taliban will be endorsing the GOP too.

PEF Endorses Andrew Cuomo
Tuesday, August 17, 2010, 11:13am EDT

Andrew Cuomo, like all the other candidates running for governor, has been campaigning against the status quo in Albany. Cuomo has been promising he will not be afraid to take on the public employee unions to get state spending and taxes in line. In his campaign, Cuomo has called for a cap on state spending and freezing state employee salaries for one year as part of an emergency financial plan. He promises there will be no increases in personal and corporate income taxes, and wants to cap property taxes.
Four months ago when he introduced Rochester Mayor Robert Duffy as his candidate for lieutenant governor, Cuomo had this to say:
“The public employee unions have too much power. I don’t know how you calibrate [that].”
“We’re going to be tangling with public employee unions going forward,” Cuomo said.
Andrew Cuomo’s candidacy was endorsed Monday by the Public Employees Federation, the second largest public employee union in New York state. PEF leaders said they like Cuomo’s position on reducing the role private-sector consultants play in state government.
The state teachers union has said it will not endorse a candidate for governor this year.

Party bows to ultimatum, backs Cuomo
BY MICHAEL GORMLEY The Associated Press

ALBANY — Democrat Andrew Cuomo on Sunday accepted the endorsement of the left-leaning Working Families Party in his run to be the state’s next governor.
Cuomo, the current state attorney general, had given an ultimatum to the party, which long has been seen as the left wing of the Democratic Party and is backed by some of the special interests he’s promised to confront as governor. He said a week ago that the labor-backed party had to accept his platform or he would refuse the endorsement, and that would threaten the party’s automatic ballot line.
The party, in a written statement, is backing Cuomo’s platform in which he promises to cut state spending, including aid that goes to the unions representing teachers and other public workers closely associated with the party.
The party needs to attract 50,000 votes to retain an automatic spot on the ballot — and all the clout that can bring to influence the Democratic Party and endorse or withhold endorsement of candidates.
Cuomo said he appreciates the support of the Working Families Party. .................>>>>....................>>>>.............................http://www.dailygazette.net/De.....r01503&AppName=1

The backroom deals have started already even before he's elected to office.
