A proposed law to require displays of calorie counts in certain restaurants did not receive enough support in the County Legislature.

A majority of legislators said the law was unecessary, and too costly to consumers and businesses.

The law would have required calorie counts to be posted in many county restaurants, but was met with opposition by many Republican lawmakers, who said the proposal would be too costly, at a time when taxpayers are already facing financial troubles.

Well....it's refreshing to hear that some local governments are getting it right.

Thank goodness......if folks fail to know how to get food, cook food and feed themselves they will become extinct due to apathy.......pathetic....
I dont know about anyone else, but eating out is not for nutritional purposes----JUST PLAIN OLD FUN.....DUH.....where ARE our public schools
when we need them.......????
