Nobody will even come near the local reps! They are toxic!

Never read the Gazetto but sounds like the American way.

BTW, I am not against GP. Just think it makes more sense for him to run for an open judgeship-where we could use his expertise AND he could win. Do you think he can beat GA? If he waits 2 years he could take this on a silver platter.

As for the 'op-ed' in the gazette....take it for what it's worth and who it's from. I think it was Zorro who posted what 'really' happened. However, the opposition will spin it what ever way they think will benefit them. That's par for the course.

I question GP's motivations for running a primary for the assembly seat against a popular seated member of his own party. Surely there is many positions that GP could have run for and actually 'won'. GP will lose the assembly bid, hence giving him a black eye to the electorate. The reps, sadly, will continue to lose elections if they continue on this path. While the reps are in the boxing ring with each other and continue to be un-unified, the dems can just sit back and take the wins! It just doesn't make sense!

Bumble, maybe it's because GP wants to eliminate corruption, k? Maybe some people think honesty is more important than popularity or party, k? You had no problem supporting Mertz over a very popular County Legislator who decided to run for Town Board... Pot meet kettle!

BS, it was easy to support John over Joe because Joe was in favor of "Save REMS"

Same reason why Parisi can't win, pushed the tax district with his candidates so he could get work from REMS, then goes as far as voting this year to create the tax district.

Sorry, I just don't buy it! Does GP 'really' think that he can single handedly stop the alleged corruption in this state? Does GP realize that NYS is about as BLUE as BLUE can be? Does GP 'really' think that being unpopular and without party backing is going to secure him anywhere near a win? I personally don't think so!

JS 'was' a very popular county leg. Then the local reps shot themselves in the foot by pinning him against one of his own....a sitting town board member. JS accepted the endorsement since he knew he couldn't win at the county level again anyway. And perhaps the local reps, including JS, were surprised at the number of votes he 'didn't' get.

Well, it appears that history will repeat itself yet again! Accept this time, GP doesn't have the total party support in the district and won't make it past the primary.IMHO Perhaps GP will just muddy the water a little bit more than it is now!!!

I don't have a horse in this race....I'm a registered blank. But if I were the reps that are trying to unify the party....I'd stay clear of GP right now. IMHO

Parisi never voted for the creation of a tax district...only to put it to a vote. What work would he want with REMS?

105TH ASSEMBLY DISTRICT
Candidate says tone of letter was threatening
BY JUSTIN MASON Gazette Reporter
Reach Gazette reporter Justin Mason at 395-3113 or jmason@dailygazette.net.

Apparently, someone doesn’t think it’s a good idea for Gerard Parisi to challenge for the state’s 105th Assembly District.
This week, the Town Board member and former Rotterdam Republican Committee chairman alerted authorities after he received a threatening letter urging him to withdraw from the race. The letter was handwritten on a postcard featuring the boardwalk in Wildwood, N.J., and included a number of profane references in its message.
“Consider a long vacation,” the postcard states. “Be a man and back out now while you still can. Ticktock, you little [expletive].”
The note was postmarked in Albany and sent to Parisi’s offi ce on Broadway in Schenectady. He contacted Schenectady police and turned over the postcard as evidence Wednesday.
City police did not return a call for comment Wednesday.
Parisi is planning to wage a primary against incumbent George Amedore Jr., with the winner expected to square off against county Legislator Angelo Santabarbara, a former Republican running on the Democratic ticket. Rotterdam’s Republican Committee backed Parisi, while the county committee endorsed Amedore.
Parisi said he is bothered by the postcard, which he construed as a threat. However, he said the “childish and immature” note wouldn’t dissuade him from collecting signatures for a primary battle.
“It’s sad and disturbing,” he said. “I’m not going to let something like that deter me.” .................>>>>.................>>>>..................http://www.dailygazette.net/De.....r01902&AppName=1

It shouldn't amaze me, but it does.  The Gazette runs a story without considering the fact they are being duped by a contrived scheme to give the appearance that county or state republicans sent it.  Wouldn't this be considered tabloid news?

Didn't Parisi play this same "threat” card with Mertz?  Parisi seems to be a lightning rod for this stuff.  Coincidence?

I tend to question the validity as well. GP is clearly no threat to GA or the assembly race in general.

Politicians  receive threats....not that I'm condoning it....but they just do. I don't remember the last time a politician called the police because they got a threatening postcard, suggesting that they take a vacation! Just doesn't make sense.

Make no mistake about it Bumble...Parisi will certainly diminish GA's electoral strength. I certainly remember the last several times
that politicians have not only called the police or threatened to do so, but filed false or baseless complaints to intimidate the
opposition...with the cooperation of corrupt officials willing to abuse their authority for political purposes. Last year it was Mike V.

In this case it just appears to be a political ploy for name recognition. A postcard suggesting a long vacation doesn't warrant a police report or a write up in the newspaper. It just makes GP look silly and rotterdam even sillier!  That's my take anyway.
