Spidey, nobody's actually blogging in favor of George, they are actually blogging in opposition to Gerard and the primary.  People are still waiting for a reason to switch horses, especially a winning one.  All the innuendo's of preferential treatment and nepotism are just that - innuendo.

So, how many jobs do GA's family members have because of his position as assemblyman?  How about his voting record?  Has he received public building contracts because of his position?  Has Gerard and his law firm received any public contracts because of his position as town attorney and republican party chair?

Who used their accessibility to government - either directly or indirectly, for personal profit?  George A or Gerard P.

Nobody cares. The assembly trial balloon is kaput. GA is going to crush the DEMS and any of ANG's running dogs. Start supporting Senator Farley and end the nonsense.

PRESS RELEASE

Released: 5/27/10
FOR IMMEDIATE RELEASE

PARISI DECLARES
“NO MORE TAXES - - NO MORE INCUMBENTS”

PLEDGES PRIMARY AGAINST GOP LEADERS
INCUMBENCY PICK

Schenectady County –  Frustrated with politicians and the “political class” as a whole, outspoken Republican Gerard F. Parisi today announced he will be running for the 105th Assembly District.   Stating an ever-increasing problem with the status quo, Parisi is running to bring attention to what he feels is the biggest obstacle standing in the way of real progress and reform for New York State…incumbency!

“The time has come to say ‘No More Taxes and No More Incumbents”, declared Parisi.  “We have to deliver our government back to the citizens.  The days of career politicians must end.  I will fight loud and hard for term limits and as my first promise I guarantee I will impose a term limit upon myself!”.

Parisi’s campaign noted that it was disappointing, but predictable, that the county GOP political bosses would stand behind their incumbent despite proof that he expected a quid pro quo to make money because of his status as an Assemblyman.  Amedore explained to the Rotterdam GOP at a committee meeting in January this year that he didn’t support the republican ticket because “they didn’t give me my zone change and it cost my family a lot of money”.  This type of mental state is exactly what happens to people when they get to Albany and is the problem with politicians.  The only way to end the problem is to take politicians out of the system by using term limits, according to the campaign.

“Win or lose, I will challenge my opponents to institute term limits upon themselves and to support the cost saving proposals which I will introduce over the next few months.  Win or lose, I will continue to pursue meaningful financial reform in this state and will persistently attempt to force all politicians to make prudent financial decisions now before the remaining businesses and taxpayers leave our great state seeking greener pastures.”, explained Parisi.

In the coming months, Parisi says he will introduce significant cost-saving proposals that will save the taxpayers of New York millions of dollars.  He explains that these types of cost saving measures should have been introduced and fought for by current incumbent officials like George Amedore.  Unfortunately, according to Parisi, after being in Albany for 4 years, George has become afflicted with the terrible disease of becoming a politician.  “This ‘disease’ weakens their resolve and destroys their ability to seek productive and meaningful reform”, said Parisi.  He explained that the career politician has divided loyalties as a result of their desire to win reelection year after year, rather than to simply do what is best for the taxpayers.

“Albany is completely broken and the community is tired of the same old politics in Albany.  This election year needs to bring many new faces with the sincere promise of term limits in order to begin solving anything in Albany.”, said Parisi in a statement.

“We all must stand against the way politicians are doing business.  They have been recklessly guiding our state directly into a financial disaster year after year after year; and it needs to stop now!”, said Parisi.  He argued that the “public service” aspect for politicians no longer exists as elected officials from both parties, once elected, change their focus to lining their own pockets, spending taxpayer money to ensure their own political preservation and catering to special interests instead of the taxpayers.

“We have many concerns about our current government.  I intend to spread our message of reform and to present my qualifications.  I will also be making some major legislative proposals to drastically reduce our state budget”, explained Parisi.
“The culture in Albany of dolling out jobs for political friends, endless social programs and preserving the politicians own taxpayer-funded careers, needs to be eradicated.”

Although now a practicing attorney and successful businessman, Parisi has experience as a CPA and auditor for the then Big 6 Accounting Firm of Ernst & Young, LLP.  The town GOP committee felt this was one of the key ingredients in Parisi’s extensive and successful resume for solving the states financial problems.   “Gerard was the clear choice to represent the taxpayers based upon his overall resume, credentials and fiscally conservative ideas”, according to committeeman James Marchinkowski.

I believe he owns his own law firm, is partner in a pizza shop, an accounting firm, a payroll agency and a few other businesses.  In short, he is his own employer.  What's your point?

GP is hardly a new fresh face in politics for God's sake! He has been the chair of the local reps, town attorney for rotterdam and now a sitting town board member.

Conservative? No new taxes? Isn't this the same guy who supported the rems taxing district. Oh that's right....I don't think he ever really took a stand. All we know is that he was hired by rems to work out a deal with the irs. That's if I'm remembering correctly.

IMHO

I will agree with Bl Sp on no new legislation.  GA is thought of as a non-player in the Assembly and is laughable most of the time.  However, I can't imagine Parisi down there.  He won't be any better.  There's enough arrogance in the Assembly.  GP experience shows you don't play nicely in the sandbox.  But I'm a Dem--run who you want.  I think the Dem might pick up the seat this time and I don't even know who that will be.

Entrenched? Depends who you're talking to
  By PAUL NELSON, Staff writer
First published in print: Saturday, May 29, 2010
The way George Amedore Jr. sees it, 3 1/2 years as an assemblyman does not make him entrenched in Albany politics.

"I'm not bought by special interests," he said Friday when speaking about his expected showdown with Rotterdam Town Board member Gerard Parisi in a 105th Assembly District Republican primary. "I'm the exact opposite."

Parisi, 39, insists the 41-year-old Amedore may not have that many years in but has already started acting like some of the other more seasoned politicians who seem more consumed with self-preservation and clinging to their six-figure salaries than serving the constituency. In separate interviews, the two Rotterdam residents touted their commitments to term limits and stabilizing property taxes.

Amedore called into questioned Parisi's integrity, accusing his likely opponent of "manipulating" proxy votes for the political support of Rotterdam committee people, an allegation Parisi has denied.

"We need people with integrity and character whose word is their bond," Amedore added, noting he will not engage in any campaign mudslinging with Parisi. Amedore, a luxury home builder, has the backing of the county GOP party.

He said one of the achievements he is most proud of during his tenure is helping to break the taboo that had for so long surrounded the topic of property tax caps and generally being accessible to people in the district.

He blamed Parisi, formerly the Rotterdam GOP chairman, for the losses that Rotterdam Republicans suffered last year in the municipal elections.

"There is a lack of responsibility he does not want to accept," Amedore said. But Parisi countered that he was merely part of a team of Republicans that ran the failed campaign that saw the defeat of the supervisor and three town council candidates.

Parisi, an attorney and businessman, scoffed at Amedore's assertion that he has been an advocate for term limits.

"He said he supports them but I don't really see any action, there's a big difference," Parisi said of Amedore's contentions he is for term limits. The challenger pledged to self-impose term limits of two 2-year terms, which he asserted will allow him to eschew the lure of special interest groups.

In summer 2007, Amedore upset Democrat Edward Kosuir in the race to serve out the unexpired term of Paul Tonko, who left to take a state job before he was elected to Congress. Then in late 2008, Amedore earned a full 2-year term by beating Mark Blanchfield.

The assemblyman said while he is "taken aback" by Parisi's candidacy, he doesn't take his friend lightly.

The district includes all of Montgomery County and parts of Schenectady County.

No mention of his "serving the people" as former Town Attorney? How about former REP Town chairman? And he has time for Assembly "duties"? Not to worry. You should be working for the Obama administration. Hear there is about to be an opening for press secretary.

The point is he is an insider masquerading like an outsider just like SS. Except she can win.

True...true! GP is going to try to campaign on the national tea party platform. However, the 'REAL' tea partyers are a 'grass roots' movement. A movement made up of your basic libertarian/conservative ideology....leaning more toward libertarian. Some reps may be lucky enough to make the grade....some deservingly of the run and some not. GP is clearly NOT part of a grassroots movement. And even though it is a 'vote the incumbent out' election.....GA will be one of those re-elected incumbents!

The reps have yet to get it together. Although they appear to have it together more at the state level than at the local level.

time will tell!

Some senior State REP leaders asked what's wrong with this County and especially this town. Tea Party patriots want nothing to do with this stunad primary. They are all supporting GA.

"No taxes" from a minority legislator? Why didn't he implement this when he was running the town with a super majority? Because it's a load. A rookie assemblyman has no say in serious fiscal matters. They can pass resolutions about town man of the year or Y woman of the year.

If Tea Party Patriots want nothing to do with the Rotterdam GOP Party than Tea Party Patriots have not done all of their homework...period...end of story. The very last laugh is the
best laugh.
