GOP of that era was a more "kinder and gentler" party.

Perhaps the GOP appeared kinder and gentler because the Dems were kinder and gentler. Perhaps? But let's no forget, that back then they were all beneficiaries of the GE union. GE ran the politics and everything else in schenectady!

And you are probably correct in that the dems would be more obliging to their democratic cohorts. The reps just eat their own.....in public!  However, let's not give too much credit to the local dems who have over spent irresponsibly! For their created patronage jobs, union support just to garner votes, pandering to the 'underserved' to garner even more votes. That is what liberal socialists do. Without the 'underserved' there would be no place for the democratic party. It IS the dem party that keeps the underserved dumbed down.  It is the dem party that proposes tax paid government handout programs that are abused daily.

Let me be clear.....I am a supporter of helping those in need. But not from womb to tomb.

I am a huge liberal Dem--but I do think the party could be a little more selective in who they believe has changed their spots to be part of the Dem party.  eg. HV--As for Salamone b eing "full of enthusiasm and energy and youth" you might want to add "full of $hit."  I had a conversation with him and found him to be lacking in several areas especially on a point of law.

And BL nobody ran you out of Schenectady.  You went willingly--and of course that was your choice.  The NNTP was a mistake--not all new parties are but that particular one was.  Pat Zollinger's STOP line happens to be one that makes sense if she doesn't get  bogged down in letting it become what NNTP was.  Don't think she will because I think she is extremely smart.  You lost fair and square despite the amount of us/pissants who supported you because we believed in what you had to say.

GB is certainly out there but when he's NOTout there, he has some very good points to make.  He also is able to act compassionately--a democratic quality if ever there was one.

The GOP seems pretty willing to creat patronage jobs for their own, pander to unions (example -- Pataki and Bruno pandering to the Health Care unions about 8 years ago to win Pataki's last term in office), and generating tax payer supported hand outs to various groups.

2 examples of taxpayer dollars used to promote some Pol's political career  -- the Joe Bruno Stadium in Troy and the Knickerbocker-Pepsi-Times Union arena -  the former should have been named the "Poor Taxpayers of Renselaer County Stadium" and the latter the "Poor Taxpayers of Albany County Arena".

mmm...  this post proves my original point ...   I would NEVER say something PUBLICLY about a fellow Democrat like you just did about one of your own GOPers.

I am reminded of something that Teddy Roosevelt (a GOPers) once said in his "man in the arena" speech.   Basically, I give Frank credit for being willing to stand up,"be in the arena", and run for  public office  instead of sitting on your fat hindquarters  and griping and moaning in political blog

The politicians just don't get it, most of the people in this country don't want to be associated with either party because both parties are greedy self serving entities that need to be overhauled. Most people today see themselves as independents no matter what party they are enrolled in and the days of voting the party line are over.

I think it is better to reform the parties by working from within .. rather than not registering in any political party.

In a town like Rotterdam --- 25 election districts .. 2 committee persons per district ... 1 person CAN make a difference .. and if that 1 person gets several like-minded persons to come in to the process ... together they can make a HUGE difference .. at the town level.

I think the Eunice Esposito Park is a different matter.   Mrs Esposito did not seek to get the park named for her.  The resolution was brought up by the majority of the Town Board without her knowledge and done to honor her for her years of public service.

For the record, I am working to get a new park built in Rotterdam .. and I am not planning on having it named after me.  If they want to name the rest room pavilion after me .. ok

My point is........Bruno committed a crime and so did Eunie and yet they have a taxpaid entity named after them. And we don't even know if Eunie was playing by the 'legal book' back then either!

So don't name ANYTHING after ANYONE!!

Eunice has always been a good public servant.  I won't let you tear down her good reputation.

The local rep party has had many opportunities to put fresh faces up for election but has refused them. They continue to run the same losers! Many people in schenectady county are more than ready to vote in reps.....but new reps. Where are they?

The people in schenectady county are tired of the dem socialist agenda being forced down their throats. They are sick and tired of the liberal con party endorsing other liberals for their own personal and political gain. They are still waiting for the 'new reps'! IMHO

Coulda fooled me there BT.  Last time I checked the Dems swept the entire GOP ticket out in Rotterdam, picked up a seat or two in the Leg and hold all the county wide seats.  Must be pre-meds spin doctor at work.  HeHeHe
