Is that Calder's excuse for hiding from a crowded discussion of the issues? That no "organization" has offered to sponsor a
debate? An invitation from his opponent should be more than sufficient motivation to participate in a debate...and it would allow
questions that would otherwise be selectively filtered by "organizations" like the left leaning LOV.

The residents of rotterdam, or any other municipality deserve to hear the issues that are most important to them debated. Going door to door, when most people are not home during the day and busy at night, is not what I call 'communicating with the electorate'.

Mr Calder isn't hiding .. he is going door-to-door to meet the voters. He attends community functions where
residents gather .. and is always willing to speak with them.

Debates need to be organized by some organization - they don't just happen by themselves.

Since there is no organization sponsoring this suggested debate -- is Mr. Salamone proposing a
debate in a parking lot  somewhere in town?  Who will moderate? who will notify the public?  etc

I have found that the door-to-door campaign is the most effective .. you reach more voters ..and you get
to listen to their ideas and concerns as wells as share your own ieas and concerns.

So this is how you won, right Ron?

I participated in the debate sponsored by the League of Women Voters .. as far as I know they are not
offering to sponsor one this year.
It is ridiculous to say that anyone should debate -- if no organization is willing to sponsor and organize
the debate.

WHAT!? It's ridiculous to think that the candidates should be forced to defend their position? Really? What the hell has this world come to? Is it just a popularity contest? What an absolute disgrace!!!!!!!!!!!!

I agree!! People in rotterdam don't have a clue about this calder guy. They never saw him or heard about him or know his views on the issues of rotterdam. Those people in rotterdam will vote for Salamone by default.

Actually a lot of residents know Mr. Calder --- from years of service as a police officer and deputy chief,
from spending time going door-to-door campaigning,  and from speaking at Town Board meetings
(priviledge of the floor).

Salamone has been quick to be negative about Rotterdam and its leaders -- no one knows what
Salamone is FOR  ..only that he seems to be AGAINST everything and he seemed to enjoy picking
on Eunice last year  (shame on Frank for that).

Salamone, although not the one some rotterdamians would have endorsed, at least fought for the taxpayers and the injustices and irresponsibility by this present administration. Most rotterdamians don't call that negative. They call it a 'voice for the people'. Equal representation.

As far as knowing calder as a cop.....hell.....most rotterdamians don't even know the name of the cops that are presently active let alone retired!! Well unless they are a conservative or a criminal, then they might know.

Time will tell.....

I have never heard Frank Salamone publicly speak POSITIVELY about anything.   In fact, I told him so
privately last Spring  --- the thing is --- I like Frank as a person ... one on one .. he is a nice guy.
But his public image is one of being the negative, nasty, pit bull ------ and the leash he is on is held
by the GOP party higher-ups.     That is the IMAGE many folks have of Frank  .. and he has done little to
dissuade people of that image.

mmm ... i don't believe that most people (or any people for that matter) believe that Mr. Paladino is
the GOP party "doggie on a leash" ----  but that is what most people think about Mr. Salamone.

GOP lapdog? You really haven't been paying attention! Salamone has been as critical of the county GOP as he has of the current town administration. Notice that most houses that have GOP signs (Killen Amedore Farley) don't have Salamone signs? Think that is because he is their lapdog? Or do you think maybe, just maybe, he actually thinks for himself!?

I think my exact quote was "GOP doggie on a leash".  I think he thinks whatever Mr. Parisi
and Mr. Buchanan let him think.
