Spotlight beat em again..... Good job Gazette!!!!!!

Salamone endorsed by Rotterdam Republican Party

Sean Ahern 05/07/10
Rotterdam Republican Frank Salamone has been nominated by the Rotterdam Republican Committee to run in the upcoming November election against Democratic candidate Wayne Calder.

The two candidates will be running for the open town board seat currently held by Republican Gerard Parisi, who was appointed to the seat by former Town Supervisor Steve Tommasone in 2009.

According to Salamone, the issues that the town are dealing with are no longer Republican or Democrat issues, but what is in the best interest for the town overall. Salamone said that he hopes to build upon the work that Parisi has done at the seat.

"I think that Mr. Parisi is doing a great job and I will continue the role that Mr. Parisi has as the voice of reason," said Salamone.

Parisi said that he believes that Salamone is a great selection for the election, and has been involved in town government issues. Parisi will not be running for his town board seat in November.

In a release, Schenectady County Republican Chairman Tom Buchanan said Salamone is suited to hold the current administration accountable in regards to ethics and transparency.

"It is time for this administration to be held accountable. I think Frank is ideally suited for this role and he is certainly one of the most credentialed candidates we have ever seen run for town office," said Buchanan in a release.

Salamone's main issues include transparency and open government in the town, two issues he said the town board has not shown.

“My candidacy is about doing what is right for the citizens. It is time that the government starts asking the people what they want, rather than telling the people what they are going to get,” said Salamone in a release. "Our government should be listening to the residents of this Town. The current administration has demonstrated a willingness to favor its friends and campaign contributors to the detriment of the Town and the residents thereof."

OMG  LOL   Salamone hasn't got a chance.  He can't negotiate a cracker jacks box let alone what needs to be done to get elected.  Parisi is the voice of reason??????  Where do you people come up with this crap.  The self-appointed Parisi pissed off the highest folks in the Rep. party.  Is Buchanan still running the party?  This is what you came up with?  Littlesal where do you live in OZ?  Oops--Got to go now--there's a red shoe salesman at my door.

Boomer I think the point Salamone is making is party shouldn't matter. The guy says he wants to help the town, shouldn't we hear him out? Maybe we should make this about ideas and qualifications and not just empty personal attacks. I've talked to Salamone he seems like an intelligent guy with good ideas. And he's not afraid to speak up when he sees something wrong. Where has Wayne been through the past few months?

I agree with FJ. As far as negotiating a cracker jack box,he seems to do a good job carrying himself at board meetings when he speaks at the podium. Didn't he also file that ethics complaint? Didn't the ethics board find in his favor? Seems like his campaign announcement  resembles what he's done all along. It's about time we have someone like him running for office in this town!

FS may not have been my first choice, but since rotterdam is obviously headed in the wrong direction, IMHO, rotterdam residents should become involved and engaged in exactly what direction they want their town to go in. They need to listen to the ideas and vision the candidates share and then make an informed decision when november comes around.

There you go again Bumble.  Still in denial.  The people of the town were, are, will be engaged.  You don't seem to want to admit that the message came through LOUD and very CLEAR this past November.  They wanted the likes of Steve, the two Joe's, MERTZ, KR, NNTP, Joe Lazzari, OUT!!!!!  That is the direction they chose to go in.  Now we wait till the next elections and the people once again will voice, through the process called ElectionDay if they want the DEMS or the REPS. K??? Capeesh?

You still are full of bitternes about your candidates and yourself being put out to the curb, but accept it and move on.  You are old news and quite frankly a broken, frickin record!

In light of the Parisi challenge to Amedore, I am sure we'll see a primary in the town race.  Of course, anyone who supports Parisis would agree the primaries are a good thing.

So because Parisi has questioned Amedore's past behavior, Salamone should be primaried? That doesn't make much sense...Unless of course you are all about destroying anyone. This has John Mertz politics written all over it. How much of the public money is going to you while you sit at your desk at the Assembly writing this nonsense?

Hey.....where and who does FS work for anyway? I mean, most people never really even heard of him until this January at town board meetings. He says he's an attorney....but for or with who? And some attorneys specialize in one aspect of the law. Just wondering if FS does the same? Or does he just 'free lance'?

Why does it matter where Salamone works? But he works for himself, as far as I know.

John Mertz is old news!  You have a lot bigger problems than that old washed up issue.  I'm actually a lot closer than you think.

Tommasone, Mertz, Parisi and the rest were only out for themselves.  To think I'm Mertz is funny, you will actually find me in the front of the line bashing him as much as anyone else.

I happen to come from the Benny school of thougjht, find comedy in the way these morons continue the GOP bashing.
