The countywide rep party certainly has more than enough blame and miscalculations to go around!

However, it does make one take pause to looks at how well Glenville and Duanesburg is doing, huh? So as dysfunctional as the rep party may be at times............it is clearly rotterdam that is really killing them!

It is rotterdam politics! The liberal socialists are clearly no better!! The present rotterdam town board is about as laughable as it can get!

The rotterdam electorate is just as laughable!! Talk about dumbed down!!!!

Rotterdam IS the laughing stock!!! IMHO of course

Diane, Mertz was a servant of the public, not a leader. Just as you were.

Calder is a Susan Savage nomination to control the Rotterdam Town Board through the new chairman...

This statement is incorrect in so many ways.    Mr. Calder was interviewed and endorsed as a candidate at least
4 months BEFORE the new town chairman was elected - and at at least 3 months BEFORE the previous town
chairman stepped down.  So unless you are claiming that Mrs. Savage has superpowers -- like knowing the
future before it happens -- your statement is absolutely false.

Mertz was NOT a leader in any sense of the word.   The way he bungled the 25A Corridor Study was a classic
example of his egotism and need for total, absolute power.   IMHO, he wasn't even a nice guy/gentleman.

TJ hooker Jasesinski I am sure was instrumental in having a fellow ex cop nominated for town board, and rumor has it calder is inline to run for supervisor once FDG realizes he doestn belong in that seat.  I am sure TJ wants to be chair of county and hopes SS can pull off the upset of a century.  Then you have the perfect storm to consolidate police into one big group.  dem sheriff, dem county, dem rotterdam super - all cops -WOW!!! can you imagine your taxes after that trifecta.  At least crime will be at an all time low!!!!!!! HAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAH!!!!!  speaking of which was TJ his chief?

dems have an agenda - and DVR- has even admitted to some of it

dems want new county nursing home here, new town hall, consolidated police force, cosolidated dispatch, senior center, and on and on and on.  all at taxpayer expense!!!

oh my how the times change......

gadfly quote

Quoted Text
Angelo Santabarabara caught Tony Jasenski red-handed taking Angelo and Carolina's lawnsigns TWICE tonight! He was driving a white Ford SUV and had a passenger with him.
First Angelo caught him on Curry Road near D'Aurizio's pizza. He was taking Angelo's signs and planting HIS up and down Curry Road. Considering the late night hour I doubt he asked for permission!
THEN he was caught less than an hour later AGAIN on Crane Street. This time Angelo pulled right up to the vehicle he was driving, POSITIVELY IDENTIFIED Jasenski AGAIN, and Tony RACED into the vehicle and took off like a bat out of hell! Angelo followed him, attempting to confront Jasenski about his THEFT of Lazzari/Santabarbara signs, but Jasenski, being the former police officer that he is, was able to  lose Angelo.
Angelo is still out looking for him, and a GANG of us are going out to hunt down that desperate, pathetic thief

He kept a Super Walmart out of the middle of Rotterdam.

Mertz did 2 no-no's in Rotterdam politics.  He stood up to developers that wanted to disect the town for personal profit, and he publically addressed the RPD excesses.  The two things that make Rottedam an over taxed, poorly developed, hodge-podged shithole.

Now Rotterdam is back to the good ole days...The few developers and police have control of the puppet strings again.

He took several months of work by a cross section of citizens .. and ignored it replacing it with his own
proposal for "corporate commerce"  .. how many corporate commerce projects have been built by 25A since he unilaterally threw out the work of about a dozen residents  --- that is the main point of contention that I
have with him.  Instead of working for the residents -- Mertz worked for himself -- basically told us residentsto go screw ourselves -- and did what he wanted.

The Wal-Mart issue was only a PART of the larger 25A issue -- but the fact is that 25A Group had made no
decision one way or the other on the Wal-Mart issue -- we were looking at the BIGGER picture and NOT a
specific project .. proposed or speculated about.

Mertz also got Rotterdam sued by the landowners by  -- in his attempt to "buy votes" -- twist the 25A Study into .. if you agreed with him you were against Wal-Mart .. if you disagreed with him you were for Wal-Mart.
The fact is that MOST of the 25A Study work was done BEFORE Wal-Mart had that informational meeting and
unveiled their proposal.     The fact is that a majority of the Study Group -- including myself -- had
problems with Mr. Mertz's  proposal long BEFORE  the Wal-Mart proposal was made.

Mertz is a classic example of an egotistical politician who cares little for what the residents want.

I have never admitted to having any agenda --    I support the consolidated dispatch  .. because that will
improve service and cut cost.     I have no opinion on the consolidated police force idea .. as far as I know
there is no specific proposal -- it is just an idea ... and there are certainly many good arguments on all
sides of the issue.

If the county wants to build the county nursing home at
the Curry Road Plaza -- I am ok with that ... anything to get that property redeveloped.
The police station/justice court, senior center, and boys/girls club are in rough shape and eventually need to
be replaced.

I also play the megamillions --- so if I win the BIG ONE --- I will donate the  money for the Town
Community Center so it won't cost the taxpayers a penny.

Sewers down route 7 to 25A wasn't tied directly with the landowner's selling the land to Walmart, to build a Super Walmart in the middle of Town?  I remember the dump trucks outside the Senior Center intimidating the residents during a Town Hall meeting.  Mertz stood up with the residents in the face of that type of intimidation.  He showed more common sense leadership than any of the inbred crooked politicians Rotterdam breeds.  And that's why he's out.

That's probably a good thing, a pure political calculation.  Little Gerard will lose for sure.

I'm still not sure what this obsession with Mertz is for. He's not in office, it's history.  Can't ANYONE deal with the present or reality??
