Do we cut services and town personel that provide those services?

I think we need to rethink our priorities......and it goes WAY beyond the town...how about the county/state??? some services are mandated/unfunded/vote purchasers
etc etc.......

everything that is a 'service' isn't always a service, though it was used as podium pucks for those running for positions to get 'feel-good votes',,,,you know....the ones
for the poor seniors, the poor kids, the poor middle class etc etc......you know the class considered 'down on their dumb luck' that folks like Tonko want to help....

just keep the opportunity---stop handing out the fish..,,,,keep the fishing poles in working order and we will make out fine.....this is America and we are Pioneering
Americans.....

If it takes cutting services and personnel in order to balance the budget then that's what we'll have to do like it or not.

If need be YES!! Duh?

When times are tough, you have to make tough decisions!

God forbid that the street cleaner is cut. God forbid that a park or two needs to close. God forbid that we take the $10K stipid away from FDG's special secretary. God forbid that we cut 10% across the line!

Would we all survive....you bet we would. We aren't that fragile....really!

How about cutting the PD? How about cutting snow plows? I'm talking about tangible services. Not the DSS. How many people really look at there tax bill. I'm not talking about the bottom line. I think they would find it quite interesting to see what their actual Rotterdam property tax is. ST and his crew held the line for three years yet they were blamed for high taxes. Pull your Jan. 1 bills out and take a real good look at them. I think some will be shocked to see what they pay the county. Look at the breakdown and really see where your money is going.

I want to know how the TB plans to 'talk at that' problem in the county with their croonies.....or are they all too busy slapping each other on the a** with willy-nilly deveoloping to
get all they can before they wrinkle more.......then move to Florida leaving the sh*t behind for us......

Point taken. Our county taxes are out of control....but when was the last time you saw a rep politico at a county meeting speaking for the rotterdam residents. NEVER!!

Funny....but our present town board (dems) were at the last county leg meeting in support of the proposed little league park. Where were the reps? So don't tell us how ST's admin kept town taxes down and yet NEVER, collectively did they show up at a county leg meeting to speak for rotterdam residents and their high taxes.

You got it senders. This crew is getting their marching orders from the county dems. They will lay waste to our town. I think we will see alot more spot zoning to help their biggest contributors as well as any other plan that will benefit their county cronies elections. Man we are in trouble with this bunch!

Buble you can't be that naive. Give me a break. What good would that have done. And support for the little leagues are you serious? I don't believe our crew once mentioned the county taxes while they were there. They were told to be there by the party and Cons. Had to lend some credence to Dagostino selling the land for profit then buying it back with our money. IT WAS ALL ORCHASTRATED!

NAIVE? ORCHESTRATED? I don't care how orchestrated it was. We all know it was. But where were the reps to speak out against it....'for the record'? JS was left out to dry on the county leg board. No support, no nuthin! So is that what the reps do....lay down and admit defeat? Thank God our forefathers didn't have that same mind thought.

If the only way to stop raising our taxes town/city/county means cutting a few police jobs or a couple of plow operators then so be it. The companies in the private sector have to lay off in hard times why not public employees or do you think they are immune because of their strong union.

That's right all Reps. should have spoken against the little leaguers getting their fields. That would be a brilliant manuever even for our forefathers.

It has nothing to do with either the Reps or Dems, the Little League is a privately run organization and during the 12 years that I was involved it was the responsibility of each individual league to raise the funds to operate the organization. The league had tried to buy land years ago and the only land that was available would have cost the league an awful lot of money for fill dirt and pilings for any buildings placed there because the land was an old brush/log dump and on a side hill.

If we, the people, have to cut spending in bad times why should our government be any different? If I'm not making enough to pay for my Mercedes, McMansion, and my summer house in Florirda, I can't tell my boss give me more money! I have to either figure out how to swing those bills, or sell of the things I can't afford. Why should we let the government continue to demand money from us when we don't have it?
