SCHENECTADY Surgical group cuts ties to Ellis County legislator is part of practice moving to St. Peter’s BY MICHAEL LAMENDOLA Gazette Reporter
New York Spine & Neurosurgery, a private practice medical group, is severing its ties with Ellis Medicine in Schenectady and moving its surgical procedures to a competitor in Albany. One of the group’s members is Dr. Brian Gordon, a Democratic Schenectady County legislator from Niskayuna and chairman of the Legislature’s Health Committee. Gordon has been a strong proponent of the county’s decision to build a new nursing home and a supporter of the Schenectady Free Clinic, saying both would help Ellis. Gordon said the group will complete its transition to St. Peter’s Hospital within 90 days. “We will be consolidating surgeries at St. Peter’s. For our patients, there will not be a change. We will provide state-of-the-art spine and neurosurgical care for residents … there,” he said. The group performs about 650 surgeries per year, evenly divided between Ellis and St. Peter’s. Following the transition, the group will no longer be in rotation for medical calls in Ellis’ Emergency Department. Ellis Medicine spokeswoman Donna Evans said the hospital is disappointed the group “has elected to leave Ellis Medicine and stop providing service to the Schenectady community. The decision was sudden and took us by surprise.”..............>>>>............>>>>...............http://www.dailygazette.net/De.....r00903&AppName=1

As chair of the county Legislature’s Health Committee, he (Gordon) said, “I represent the people of Schenectady.”
I just choose not to serve them in my medical profession at a Schenectady hospital. The residents should demand that Legislator Gordon step down from his position as chair of the Schenectady county Legislature’s Health Committee. IMHO
Well, he moved his business out of town. That should automatically qualify him to head up some major economic development organization in this county (under Dem rule.)
"While Foreign Terrorists were plotting to murder and maim using homemade bombs in Boston, Democrap officials in Washington DC, Albany and here were busy watching ME and other law abiding American Citizens who are gun owners and taxpayers, in an effort to blame the nation's lack of security on US so that they could have a political scapegoat."
I don't fault any private business for making sound business decisions!
It just puts Dr. Gorden's credibility in question. While he backed and supported Ellis Hospital under the guise of 'helping the schenectady residents, and is backing and supporting a taxpaid Glendale home expansion.......it leaves one to wonder where his priorities and motivations lie!

I am surprised. Where's was Death Ray with a boatload of sales tax money to prevent this County Legislator from moving to Albany? Then take credit for "saving" County jobs.
Now even the professionals are fleeing. Dr Gordon was the number one vote getter in Niskayuna last year. Of course, the imploded REPS fielded a slate of token opponents.
did dr. gordon get metroplex money to build there new facility on rt. 7? that is where there office is, they are just going to stop doing surgeries at ellis and go solely to st. peters. right?
they need to pull the plug on county nursing home. i dont care what he does on his own with his business.
