Nobody is renaming the park.  DM will become the Clerk.  Lynn Flansberg will run the senior center and who knows what else will happen.  Of course people knew that eventually EE would resign why wouldn't she.  She ran to hold that seat for a dem.

I could care less who is town clerk....as long as they are qualified for the job. I don't care if they are rep, dem, con. It is NOT a decision making position. It is just a paper pushing, paper filing, typing job. So I honestly don't give a rats a$$ who stands behind that counter.....again....as long as they are qualified. Just like the cashiers at walmart. I don't care who they are as long as they are qualified for the job. No different here.

Never voted for a town clerk and never will! It's nonsense!

How interesting you don't even vote for that position.  Odd you would even admit that--such a shanda!  No wonder you're calling for anarchy.

Come on people....it's just a high paid 'glorified clerks' job. It comes with no law making, decision making power. They just need to smile (optional), fill out papers and file them! Big freakin' deal!!! Oh....and you need to be a notary too!

A town clerk is not voted in on their qualified ability. It is more like voting for the queen of the prom! Pathetic...ain't it?

Why not rename the park back to Ft. Hunter like it was for over 40 years???  Why can't we name parks for the geographic features and not politicians.  Geographic features remain constant and they don't go to jail think like Bruno stadium.  This was my childhood park and I resented it being renamed when the Dems were schmoozing EE.  The whole neighborhood was not happy.  It had nothing to do with not liking EE.  It had to do with politicizing our park.

This area was a thoroughfare between Albany and Ft. Hunter.  The name has historic significance.  I'll bet the original park founders were happy with the name.  They were just smart citizens not politicans trying to exploit their efforts.

Well $50,000 of my tax dollars are going in her pocket. We are paying for her incompetence.
The Town Board isn't helping the matter either and if her family isn't doing anything to stress
to her the importance of resigning, they are a guilty as she is.

Atta girl Mary!!!   Absolutely correct.  If we didn't want the job done right, why have it at all?  The Notary Law is very straightforward and simple.  EE understands it, she simply decided she knew best.

How would that work for any of us in town court pleading a speeding ticket?  Do you think we would get let off if we said we thought the speed limit was too low and we decided to make our own rules?  Try it and post what happens on this forum.

The notary license is not a requirement of the job, it's an "honor" given to those in that position, some without even taking the test, but all required to follow the rules ... well, except for EE, who apparently is able to make her own, without repercussions.

Mobile is right about the notary.  The Clerk does not need to be a notary that is done as a service to the community.  I will admitI know two other clerks and they are also notaries.

Doesnt' matter why they are up for a vote.  The fact is it is an elected office.  I wish you would stop denigrating the position.  Does it make you feel more powerful because dump on EE?  Nobody will rename the park.  That would be an outrage to a vast majority of town folk.  EE not acting to the letter of the law here is because she used her head and her heart when acting in that specified case.  She didn't commit the Brinks heist!

No, frankly it's more disappointment and shock .. EE has been a trusted name in Rotterdam my entire life, plus some. With her numerous titles, how can she be trusted in any of them anymore?

Disappointed, shocked and sad really.

Boomer, when are you and the rest of the Dems going to  admit that EE broke the law and cheated the other Rotterdam residents?    The current Town Board needs to deal with her unethical actions otherwise it will be another nail in their coffin.  "Acting with her heart" isn't an excuse to break the law!  It's pretty simple.
