ROTTERDAM
Town’s handling of ethics complaint called ‘mistake’

BY JUSTIN MASON Gazette Reporter

A complaint mailed to Rotterdam’s Ethics Board was opened and reviewed by someone in Town Hall other than a member of the panel.
Resident Frank Salamone sent the complaint after members of the Town Board hired Linda Leary to replace Peter Coffey as the Ethics Board’s attorney during their organizational meeting on New Year’s Day. In the complaint, he said the appointment was unlawful and cited a town code that outlines a distinct process for hiring a new Ethics Board attorney if the former one is not retained.
But Salamone said the Ethics Board didn’t receive the complaint until two weeks after it originally arrived in Town Hall. And once it was forwarded, he said the complaint was accompanied by an opinion from Michael Godlewski, the Town Board’s privately contracted attorney.
“That’s problematic,” Salamone said Monday. “They opened someone else’s mail.”
The complaint and its handling was brought up at the Town Board meeting last week. In comments made during the meeting, board member Gerard Parisi urged that appropriate measures be adopted to ensure ethics complaints are properly delivered to the rightful recipients.
Deputy Supervisor Robert Godlewski said he was unsure of the exact nature of the complaint. However, he said Salamone’s letter was inadvertently opened in the Town Clerk’s Office and characterized the mishandling as “an innocent mistake.”..............>>>>............>>>>.............http://www.dailygazette.net/De.....r01702&AppName=1

The editors were probably loath to put it that far to the front but the paper only goes to about b8 these days not counting the sports section. The editors want to keep any negativity about their favored rulers to an absolute minimum. That is no secret. They must be constantly called and it and challenged for their perennial falling down on the job. As to the thickness of the paper or lack thereof- No person in their sane mind would advertise in such an outdated format with so few readers except for Macy's (because they don't know what else to do) and Job Lot (because it is their crappy demographic here in the city.) I feel bad for the Mom and Pops who don't realize they are throwing good money after bad by placing the weekly ads in there.

I'm sure we won't hear anything else about this, either from The Gazette or the Town officials.

Anyone else think this is further evidence that Eunice is unfit for her position?

It would be interesting to see how the gazette would have spun this if it was a rep? EE is clearly not capable of this job. Perhaps the dems can find another position for her for .... oh....... let's say $80K like they did Kosiur!

Now she should be running the senior center....dontcha think? At least there she could display all the compassion in the world without breaking the law!

A friend just brought forth information, (public information) that Lynn Trifilo Fiorillo's father got an assessment reduction in 2009, sight unseen and no supporting documentation.  Is that ethical by the same standards Eunice is being held to?  I believe Lynn was a public official at the time and might there have been a conflict perhaps?  Just asking.

I am sure Steve's brother assessment reduction was above board and would have happened even if Steve was not the Supervisor.  Yeah right.

Sounds like the FBI should get on it!

Nah no FBI for this.  The DEMS won on that issue.  Knocked out three blowhards and a Mertz clone.  LOL

Is it the Dems, Is it the REPS, or is it government in general?

I don't spell check!  Sorry...

Notice Peeper's post, and which thread it's in.  I think we can all gather from this that she is grasping at straws to discredit Lynn as much as possible.  Maybe because she is ultimately unqualified for the clerk's position?

I've said it before, and I'll say it again - she is the Kelly Rhinesmith of the Democratic Party.  They know she's a loose cannon, and therefore cannot ditch her.  However, they only let her play with a few toys, and leave all the decisions to the big dogs.

So wink and smile all you want, Diane.  I know it doesn't bother you that you are rude and obnoxious, and an embarrassment to those close to you.  That's the funny part...you just don't get it!

I thought that DR was the KR of the democratic party and DM was just a wanna be. NO?
