CAPITAL REGION
IDAs complain as state charges fees on operations
BY EDWARD MUNGER JR. Gazette Reporter

http://www.dailygazette.net/De.........>>>>............ State Assemblyman George Amedore Jr., R-Rotterdam, described the fee as a good example of a “bad budget” developed by “three men in a room, all from New York City.
“This is what happens. They nickel- and-dime and they raise the assessments on everything under the sun,” Amedore said.
“It’s hurting business because it’s taking away from economic opportunity, not fostering new job creation or growth,” said Amedore, who voted against the budget adopted in 2009.
Schenectady Metroplex Development Authority Director Ray Gillen said he has not yet seen a bill, but he is not expecting the authority to be paying a fee on PILOT funds that pass through the agency administratively.
“PILOTs go right to the government agencies,” Gillen said.
Amsterdam IDA chairman Dan DeRossi said the agency got a bill for $16,268, an expense that was not budgeted for.
He said he hopes to learn how it is calculated and ensure the charge is accurate.
“It’s like a bad joke,” said Amsterdam 5th Ward Supervisor Karl Baia, chairman of the Montgomery County Board of Supervisors’ economic development committee, who said state lawmakers “should be ashamed.
“They all say that they’re for creating jobs … and they tax the very entities that try to create these jobs. It’s a bad joke on their part, and it shows that they speak out of both sides of their mouth. This is what makes people lose trust in government; this is why less and less people are voting,” Baia said.

...you are a product of your environment, your environment is a product of your priorities, your priorities are a product of you......

The replacement of morality and conscience with law produces a deadly paradox.
