ROTTERDAM
Residents defend accused clerk
Esposito admitted breaking notary rule for seniors

BY JUSTIN MASON Gazette Reporter

In his 43 years living in Rotterdam, Remo Santuccione said he’s found a person he can trust in Eunice Esposito.
He said the 11-term town clerk has always been quick to greet him on the street and has always treated him fairly. He scoffed at the notion that Esposito may have violated state law in her duty as a notary, characterizing her as an upstanding resident of the town always looking out for the best interests of others.
“She’s one of the most honest people I’ve met in my life,” Santuccione told members of the Town Board .
And he wasn’t alone, either. Several residents spoke glowingly of the 83-year-old clerk during the board’s meeting, their comments occasionally drawing applause from a crowd of more than three dozen gathered at Town Hall Wednesday.
Esposito has recently come under fire for apparently notarizing official documents without having people sign them in her presence. She is expected to appear at a state Department of State hearing next month to determine if her license should be suspended or revoked.
In an interview last week, Esposito acknowledged that she approved some signatures without the person being present. But she said she did so as a courtesy to senior citizens who have a diffi cult time coming down to Town Hall and said she only did it if she knew the person. She dismissed the case against her as a political attack.
Some of the residents speaking at the meeting agreed. Resident Ron Severson described Esposito as a town official who performs her job with virtue and blasted the complaint against her as an ongoing effort to attack her credibility.
“It’s deplorable, and I think we owe Eunice a tremendous amount of applause for the work she has done over the years,” he said.
Resident Lisa Dufek described Esposito as a faithful servant of the town. She said the clerk is always welcoming to the people she sees at Town Hall.
“Anyone who approaches her is met with a warm smile and a cheery voice,” she said.
Carl Constantino took issue with a Gazette editorial faulting Esposito’s role as a notary. He said such a faithful town employee didn’t deserve such criticism.
“And we’re sorry for it, Eunice,” he said.
But not everyone offered kind words. Resident Frank Salamone blasted Esposito for breaking the law and offered criticism to any town official who thought the matter didn’t need to be brought before the state.
“The idea we should keep arguments against our public officials who may have committed crimes in-house is ridiculous,” he said.

Indeed, her past service has been commendable, but the fact is, she broke the law - she admits it - it's time to take the consequences for her actions.

Welcome to OZ folks. Where the liberal socialist democratic green machine is behind the curtain spewing it's dictatorship. Don't believe me? Go to the next town board meeting and just 'try' to ask them a question. Those days are gone folks. (well until we vote them out) Of course this decision was obviously made and stated by the town attorney, to protect the grossly inept town board members from embarrassment.

Well folks, here's our town elected officials.......one can't read nor comprehend, one fraudulently breaks the law and get's praised for it, one ran for office only for her own self gain cause her taxes were too high, one (no change) that goes on and on and ends up saying absolutely nothing and a an attorney, that even though was not 'elected by the people' is running the show!

The democratic cult has arrived and they are telling 'you' to SHUT UP!

And might I add that the developers aren't wasting any time to cozy up to their 'friends'! IMHO

PAY ATTENTION PEOPLE!!

Bumble,
Brilliant post...couldn't have said it better.   After attending the meeting, I had nightmares all night.
I might add that the agenda for the meeting was changed late in the day on Wednesday to add a resolution regarding the zoning for the Golub project.   Pretty slick!   Residents were sitting there comparing the agenda they printed out at home during the afternnoon to the agenda that was handed out at the meeting only to find that it was different!  Even the "party loyals" in the audience were confused about the Golub item being added.
Also disappointed that the Supervisor had "no report" (again).  Mean to say that nothing has happened in the town since the last meeting?  He didn't think to invite the residents to "bail him out" at the MDA lockup?  Anything?

They're not accepting questions or privledge of the floor at meetings now??

Last minute changes to the agenda? I thought things had to be published X hours ahead of time to get on the agenda (by law)?

No report? Even scarier

Ah nope! The residents just get the 'deer in the headlight' look from these buffoons! If they don't start interacting with the residents, they will have a problem on their hands!!! The buzz from the residents during and after the meeting was absolutely negative.

And ND better take her foot out of her mouth. Admitting she ran for office 'only' because 'her' taxes were too high, infuriated the residents. They thought of her as self serving. These residents have varied issues and concerns of their own. They could give a rats a$$ if her taxes are too high or not. They were there with their own concerns. They had to sit and listen to her BS sob story about her taxes and yet the RESIDENTS were denied! Pathetic!

This tb just doesn't get it!! It is going to be a very very long 2 years folks. PAY ATTENTION!!!

ND went on and on about how GREAT the Schdy School system kids are and then how GREAT the Mohonasen kids are.   Sorry Schalmont, you weren't mentioned!  Never really got to her point and her outburst had far too much detail.
Please, tell us about Town business; that's why we are attending the meetings!

It was revealed that one of the developers has delinquent taxes on the parcel for which he was requesting a rezone.   His excuse was that the taxes had gone up considerably and he needs to fight the increase.  What makes him think that he can just not pay the tax in the interim and then request a rezone?  Oh, maybe he made a campaign donation...

No one could leave their computer due to the horrible "blizzard" conditions? Only Eunice's elderly, cane wielding supporters could make it out of their snowy driveways.

benny, there were quite a few at last nights meeting, and most were NOT in support of EE.

Back on ND who so eloquently inserted her foot in her mouth.....she went on to say how she moved to ROTTERDAM TO GIVE HER SON(S) A BETTER LIFE!!!!!

So she handed the residents the old sh!t sandwich by first saying she was NOT associated with Raucci. (?) Then went on to say how great the schenectady school system was. THEN went on to say how she moved to ROTTERDAM to give her son(s) a better life. THEN went on to say that Mohonasen was a good school too!

So tell me folks....and we'll see if we can get answers to the can of worms she opened up....
1. did she know about raucci's actions?
2. Is schenectady a nice place to live?
3. Is rotterdam a better place to live?
4. Is the schenectady school system a great school system?
5. Is mohonasen a 'better' school system than schenectady's?
6. How does she intend to lower 'her' taxes?

With ND.....it's all about HER!!

No wonder the attorney doesn't want any of them to talk!

No mention of the grant(s).  If there were any grants received, the Supvr could have made that part of his "report."  Oh, sorry, he had no report at last night's meeting.

I heard this morning that there was hooting and hollering all meeting long.  If there were people that were in support of following the law, then they certainly didn't voice their opinions.  THAT'S the problem.
