Quoted from GrahamBonnet
ALL veterans are for peace, there are just a few who don't understand that war happens sometimes when your country gets attacked. Most know that it is an terrible, evil and nasty thing that is not always preventable no matter how much our nation and its people WANT peace.

Quoted from 612
NOt exactly GB.  Some soldiers are just violent in nature and love the fight.  Veterans for Peace are vets who have been to war and know the lasting results of war and the effect on the returning soldier.

Quoted from 612
WE fail because we don't help them...especially the ones who come back and brag about who and how many they have killed.

Memory refresher - You clearly make the statement that NOT ALL SOLDIERS ARE FOR PEACE...YOU THEN GO ON TO SAY VFP VETS KNOW THE RESULTS OF WAR, presumably better that those who are not affiliated with VFP.  You may not have literally said the word nobler, but you most certainly placed them above the soldiers that GB suggested.

Have you also visited the family of the beheaded Daniel Pearl? Did you also visit the families of the american solders that were beheaded, burned and hung out for public viewing? Did you also visit the families that lost loved ones on 911? Did you also visit the families that lost their loved one when the Cole was attacked, which was during the Clinton years?

These young men and women knew exactly what a sick enemy they would be fighting. You also are forgetting that they 'bravely' chose to enlist. They chose to follow the direction of the United States.

To portray them as victims instead of heroes is shameful and disgraceful!!

You are clearly just another modern day Jane Fonda and should be ashamed of yourself. And supporting the idea of having someone (EE) who has defiled an elected government position, preside over 'their' honored day/parade.....is just another slap in the face to our men and women in uniform. DISGRACEFUL AND SHAMEFUL!

Cicero is right.....you are a lunatic!!

Thankfully we aren't talking about Eunice anymore - but sadly the topic takes a predictable turn and we now get our comments about life in the military from  the same usual posters  ( posers ) that have shown their ignorance repeatedly to any - past or present servicemen posting here- who have been run off by the ' Rotterdam Renegades '  who can only ask daddy or grandpa what WWII was like- it makes me wanna puke every time-

You have a lot of nerve even thinking  "These young men and women knew exactly what a sick enemy they would be fighting "- you dont really have a clue  what they think do you  ?( or Cicero for that matter ).  Some people have a  flag  in a thimble stuck up their  crack-

Oh boy, here we go.  The poser posting in the tense of a serviceman.  That makes me wanna puke every time.

Sombody, so tell me, as you have first hand experience, what exactly do our service men and women think they are signing up for when enlisting?

Boomer, looks like you have another one joining you in the pity parade?

I'd call you a coward to your face, but not in this thread - that'd be off topic.

Your confession gives a whole new meaning to "Sombody::FAIL"

In fact, next time we meet, I'll do just that.

Hey, I'm no poser. I have many relatives, friends, coworkers, and employees that served in wars of all generations.  I hold our servicemen in very high regards.  And when I hear people taking pity on them, and making claims they have been "brainwashed" or that some are "violent by nature" - it really gets me steamed.  I like you sombody have never served in the military.  Though I did not dodge the draft, I was fortunate enough to have a choice, and we are fortunate as a nation today to continue to have an all volunteer army.  Instead of disparaging their intellect by claiming they're "brainwashed" or attacking their character by saying they are "violent by nature",  I instead choose to treat those that serve with dignity and respect for making that sacrifice.  I will continue to defend our service men and women against those who continue to speak of them in an undignified manner.

YOU Cis are a fool.  Because YOU are the one denigrating our service people. If the army didn't brainwash these kids do you think they would go in to war so willingly?  You are a HUGE fool.   If you don't think today's kids are more violent than those from the 20's 30's and 40's, you must be lacking not only education but awareness of the environment.  Any simpleton will tell you that.  I am NOT attacking our service folks.  So far I am the only one on this forum who has been to that sad sack hospital Walter Reed (care not so good) and am the one who purchased the body armor for my relative who was in Iraq.  So once again you mouth off in the most arrogant of ways and you have done nothing!

I don't call them brainwashed, and I don't call them violent by nature.  You make your statement based on anecdotal evidence.  I have trouble walking up to my grandfather, father, cousin, and coworker and voice my remorse over the "brainwashing" they unknowingly received during their voluntary service. I don't have that kind of arrogance.

They'd kick my @$$ if I ever suggested they were brainwashed.  I dare say boomer that your father and grandfather would do the same to you if they heard that from you.

Sorry, we just don't agree on that.

Yes, I've been to Walter Reed. I've had relatives die in VA Albany, I've been to Camp Pendleton. I've seen what you're talking about - no, it's not pretty. But not one person I've talked to, or know, feel they were brainwashed or "tricked" into VOLUNTARILY, and without prejudice, signing their name on the dotted line and standing up for our rights to be here discussing this. I currently live next door (literally) to a very large military installation, any one of these volunteer soldiers would kick serious @$$ if this was ever suggested. I don't have the cajones to even THINK of bringing this topic/thread/discussion up to them, their words would likely be censored so bad on this forum it'd be impossible to comprehend.

Buy armor for a relative? That's cool - and very noble of you. It's unfortunate that the US Congress didn't vote to fund what these kids needed at that time (or if you believe the theory of a supply chain mix up, that's fine too). (ref: http://www.factcheck.org/article438.html)   But, I have a question for you. Now that Obama has entrenched our soldiers even deeper into harms way, are they getting all the provisions they need? Are their defesive and offensive weapons better now? Has Congress made sure todays soldiers have what they need, in every aspect?

When I went for my preINDUCTION physical  my sophomore year of college your Mommy was still wiping your snotty little  nose .  I would have been drafted if I had not remained a full time student.  Yes- the extra effort I made to stay in school made me a dodger- BFD.

You and your buddies need to quit talking crap about the Bethesda house and -  because about half of the occupants are Viet Nam Vets and I m glad I dont have to rely on you  and your tightass for any  over exposure to agent orange medication.

Get real and stop shooting your mouth off

Funny, I don't ever recall talking about Bethesda house - just the perverts that peed on the side of the building ... did I strike a nerve on that one?

Life is war itself.......kids die in care accidents, parents die from cancer, kids are maimed for stupid stunts they choose to do, people are raped, addicted to drugs, etc etc........I work with folks who have had
no choice in the battles they have fought in, and they have stories, lots of them......we cannot make one person more equal than another because of their own choice.......

...you are a product of your environment, your environment is a product of your priorities, your priorities are a product of you......

The replacement of morality and conscience with law produces a deadly paradox.

MT--good point.  I am against Obama getting even more entrenched in the war.  Already protested that and called Schumer/Gillebrand's office as well as Tonko's.  Buying the armour was hardly "cool." It was a huge necessity.   My father and grandfather fought in the "good" wars.  US was attacked.  This is not the same war.  But you're right--if my father were alive he would be furious with my stand.

And Sombody is right about the Viet Nam vets.  I ran St. John's/St. Ann's Outreach Center and my soup kitchen was open twice a week.  Many homeless Viet Nam vets came to eat there.  In fact we worked with Colonie Elks to get those vets flu shots.  I believe Colonie continues to run that program for those folks.

Sombody--glad you stayed out of the war.  I had a senior citizen client who only had one child.  She drove him to Canada to avoid the draft.  He never returned to the US.  We needed to get her closer to him because she suffers with dementia.  Because of their healthcare system, we needed to find her a place in Buffalo so that he could see her often and she could still have the health benefits she needs in her final days.

Of course your neighbors would be pi$$ed with my comments.  VFP folks have lots of army, air force, and marines in the group.  In fact it is one of the marines who speaks extensively about the way the kids are brainwashed to fight.  I think we have exhausted this subject.  I will still support the troops by trying to get them home and continuing to send packages oversees to those kids that my relative left after he was discharged.

Oh btw--daily prayer to bring them home should be part of everyone's regiment.
