Cis--you are way off base here.  First I never said we were attacked by Germany--so your attention to detail is not so good.  And yes WWI and WWII are VERY different wars than Viet Nam or the two Bush wars.  The whole country was behind supporting the big wars.  Only half the country supported Viet Nam or these wars.  That makes a big difference.  At least in the Bush wars, the liberals and others continue to support the troops by demanding they be brought home.  That didn't even really happen for teh Viet Nam boys.  So your memory is off.

You may be a war-monger but I am not sure you are a hate-monger other than the fact you hate liberals.  And btw Peeper makes some very good points most of the time.

MT--I think you might be correct about ND--sad to say.  But then again I don't believe she is a Dem but a Rep/Con.  She does need "charm school" badly.  And absolutely she should not be chastising the residents!

You're right about the country supporting our troops during WWII and not during Vietnam.  That's because the Communist weren't operating inside our country organizing the communist sympathizers’ anti-war rallies to undermine America's resolve.  I'm sure you remember those.

But let's get back to your point about the violent soldiers that are violent by nature and love to fight.  How do our troops differ today than the WWII soldiers?  A soldiers desire to fight depend upon the Country's support, is that what you are suggesting?  Are you suggesting that if 50% of the Country doesn't support the war effort, than the soldiers that choose to join the military must "love to fight by nature".   You're CRAZY.

You really are a dimwit! Are you saying that ND is the lunatic she is because she is a rep/con? That is the most absurd thing I've heard in a long time.  She needs more than charm school. She clearly needs anger management. And a lesson in the English language minus the 'soprano spin' would also benefit her.

Cis and BT either you two are the same person or you spend a lot of time together.  Hard to believe both of you could be so goofy.  ND is a lunatic not matter what persuasion she is.  Yes charm school and anger management could only benefit her performance.  If I had a kid in her school, I would have move the kid to private school by now.

Yes I do remember the anti-rallies from the sixties and seventies and yes I was at some of them.  These soldiers are brain washed.  How else can you get a kid to do that kind of battle.  Also young people are more desensitized toward violence.  Watch TV--play those stupid games on video go to the movies.  If you don't think we are raising kids who are more violent today you need your head examined.  Just look at the two of you.  You can hardly act civil to a lib like me.

NOt exactly GB.  Some soldiers are just violent in nature and love the fight.  Veterans for Peace are vets who have been to war and know the lasting results of war and the effect on the returning soldier.  At this point, we have more American kids (soldiers) who have committed suicide because of the war than who have been killed in war.

Also Veterans for Peace aren't always asked to march in every parade.  But they should be.

and some folks are just plumbers/nurses/teachers/cashiers......and EVERYONE (except for vietnam) has a choice.......and I say good job to ALL VETS....I didn't choose
but you did.....good job......

Peace will never be.........we like to think it was before the gulf war of Bush I....but there were 'other wars'.......none less killing than the next......we are what we are.....

So, our fathers, grandfathers and kids are/were all brainwashed into fighting for our country?  Is that what you're suggesting?

I am not suggesting that is what happened then.  I KNOW that is what happens NOW!

folks are/can be more independent minded....however the 'commune' thinking of the hippy/progressives prevents individualized choice making.....that would be by your rationale......you pass judgement based on what you think is peace/right/just.....I'm not happy-go-lucky feeling when a soldier commits suicide....but, I do get pissed off
when some folks make them out to be 'poor soldiers'.......that is not the character they set out to be at the get-go.....someone told them "it's a shame you had to do what you did, now you are damaged goods. I will fix that for you."......IMHO......

Senders if you took from my response that I thought soldiers who commit suicide are poor soldiers you couldn't be further from the truth.  My post is that good and wonderful young men go to war and come back and can't integrate the experience into their life.  WE fail because we don't help them...especially the ones who come back and brag about who and how many they have killed.  Ed Tick is excellent on this topic.

Boom, you are absolutely off of your rocker.  Your anti-military sentiment is ringing loud and clear.  You prove post after post, that you pity our troops and believe their desire to serve our country is through some brainwashing and manipulation that our troops are not aware of.  It is a sad day in America when people like boomer attempt to honor our troops by claiming they want to save them from their own naive choice to serve.  It's just like a lib to tell people what is best for them, because they presume people are not nearly as smart as themselves, and they inherently know more.

The brainwashing happened in the 60's and 70's to the dope smokin free lovin hippies.  The commie anti-military rallies, where they would spit on the returning troops, warped their perception of reality, making every American a victim of the evil capitalist/imperialistic ways of the United States.

The 60's counter culture movement is only effective as just that - a counter culture revolution.  Now that they have assumed power in government and shredded the Constitution, they are new totalitarian masters of the people.  We are no longer governed by the Constitution, but rather a slave to our elected masters.  I feel a revolution is on the horizon.

Like America's greatest revolutionary said.

"What country can preserve its liberties if its rulers are not warned from time to time that their people preserve the spirit of resistance?" - Thomas Jefferson

Cis-you're full of crap.  I have a family member who did two tours in Iraq.  So you don't know $hit.  While you losers are busy "thanking them for serving" we deal with the aftermath.  So blow your right wing BS at somebody else.  You would rather see a country destroyed with its people and ignore what happens to our own patriotic citizens.  Right let's have a kid lead the parade who is missing limbs or brain damaged so that you right wingers can get off on the sentiment of the day.  You're nothing but a war-monger and a not so smart one either.
