Bernanke losing support
The Associated Press

WASHINGTON — Federal Reserve Chairman Ben Bernanke encountered new Senate opposition Friday for another four-year term as the White House worked aggressively to keep his support from eroding further.
President Barack Obama’s chief of staff, Rahm Emanuel, and Treasury Secretary Timothy Geithner were on the phone throughout the day to key senators to shore up votes, said two senior administration officials, speaking on condition of anonymity to more freely discuss behind-the-scenes activity.
On Friday, three Democrats — Sens. Russ Feingold of Wisconsin, Barbara Boxer of California and Jeff Merkley of Oregon — announced they would vote against Bernanke’s confirmation. Sen. Byron Dorgan, D-North Dakota, announced his opposition Thursday.
And at least three senators who voted for Bernanke in the Senate Banking Committee last month were weighing their support.
Despite the Democratic defections, the administration’s concerns about the status of the nomination were lessened somewhat by the knowledge that several Republicans were committed for Bernanke, one official said. ..............>>>>........................>>>>..............http://www.dailygazette.net/De.....r00503&AppName=1

Sounds like the empire is crumbling.....one brick at a time!

They use to say that bush and his administration were out of touch with 'the people'.

This administration has them beat by a mile and it's only been ONE year.

It just goes to prove that both parties are out of touch. They have become too greedy and power driven. They all are beholden to their party bosses and the special interest groups for their personal and political agendas.

And they wonder why there is a grass roots tea party movement! Numbskulls!!

And let's not forget the roll UpChuck played in all of this when his seat is up for vote!!! VOTE THE ARROGANT IDIOT OUT!!!

I never voted for Schumer because I didn't like him when he first ran but NYC votes him in because he promises them free handouts from the government. Gilly has got to go too because she turned on the people who elected her when she became a supporter of  Upchuck's liberal policies.

Geithner warns of Bernanke fallout
By: Mike Allen
January 24, 2010 11:49 PM EST

Treasury Secretary Timothy Geithner warned that the financial markets would view a Senate rejection of Ben Bernanke's renomination as "very troubling" but said he's sure the embattled Federal Reserve chairman will prevail.

"We're very confident that the chairman will be reconfirmed by the Senate, and we think it's very important he be reconfirmed by the Senate," Geithner said Friday in an interview at the Treasury for POLITICO's new video series, "Inside Obama's Washington," debuting Monday.

"He's done a remarkable job of helping steer this economy out of the great recession. And I think he'll play a very important role in helping in the success of our efforts to try to make sure we are bringing this economy back to durable growth."

Asked about possible market reaction to a defeat, Geithner said: "I think the markets would view that as a very troubling thing to the economy as a whole. But, as I said, I don't think they should be uncertain. I think they should be confident because we are very confident he will be reconfirmed."

Bernanke is having such a rough time, Geithner suggested, because the country is "in a moment where people are incredibly angry and frustrated by the damage this crisis caused."..............>>>>.............>>>>..............http://www.politico.com/news/stories/0110/31804.html

Bernanke/Geitner.....it really doesn't matter......the world playing field is different and the players are lined up differently but the game is the same.....it's quick and fast......the 'crisis' talk is just smoke
while the playbook of economics gets rewritten with new foul lines and such......who actually uses cash these days? what is valued these days?...no more paper mail/bills in the boxes,,,it's all here....
paychecks??---who actually picks up a physical paycheck these days?---free federal turbo tax,,,,ya see.....can anyone see down that tunnel?......the talk is just smoke.....

TRADE WILL ALWAYS HAPPEN........the conversation on 'the hill' is just for entertainment...........
