http://www.politico.com/arena/...........>>>>...........>>>>............The Republicans won’t have easy sailing from here on, either. Brown’s victory has given more muscle to the tea-partiers — the rag-tag group of angry no-nothings who are challenging mainstream Republicans in primaries all over the country. Tea partiers have almost as much contempt for the Republican establishment as they do for Democrats. Brown himself is no tea-partier; in fact, his record in Massachusetts is quite moderate. But the partiers will use him nonetheless. And if Republicans move to the right fringe, Democrats have more room to attract moderates and Independents.
What really worries me is a basic fact, borne out by history. Deep and continuing economic stresses bring out demagogues, xenophobes, racists, and opportunists who channel people’s fears and anxieties into resentments against other people. If this awful economy goes on much longer, the extreme right could meet the extreme left in a place called “I’m mad as hell and am not gonna take it any more,” and form a third party that attracts everyone who feels disempowered and dumped on — and who want to blame someone else for what’s happened to them. Then, watch out.
I agree with the fact that both parties had better heed the warning and change the way that they've been doing business but that's where it ends. The tea party movement contributed funds to Brown campaign from all over this country because Brown is center right in his political beliefs and leans toward the left on some issues. If the Democrats don't stop letting their extreme left call all the shots they won't have a party to worry about. If there's going to be a problem with violence and the "I'm mad as hell and I'm not going to take it anymore" it will be on the extreme left driving it. History proves that the extreme left has always been the violent arm of the political area.
We already have that here...it's called the No New Tax Party
Are you saying that it is 'just' the NNTP? Don't fool yourself....it is much larger and goes way beyond rotterdam's NNTP. I believe that there will be a tea party stop-off here in albany, on April 14th....I think. We'll see what the turn out for that will be.
All I know and all I hear from folks I know from across the country, is that they are energized and feel empowered by 'the tea party movement'. Discount it or try to discredit it....but it is real, it is big and it is already here!

Nope, I was simply focusing on the 'dumped on' phrase, and calling the candidate's that ran on the NNTP a bunch of whiner crybabies.
You sound like a rep with an ax to grind with the NNTP candidates. You may call them crybabies.....we residents call them another 'choice'.
Get over yourselves......it's much bigger than you! REALLY! No....REALLY!

I'm not a rep, nor do I have an ax to grind. I, too, have a choice. Whether to buy into the NNTP or not. I have chosen not to. The fact that you group me with the "reps" shows how short-sighted you are.

Perhaps I miss interpreted your post....but you sound like a rep that got caught in the line of fire by the NNTP/tea party. Perhaps?

I buy into the tea party movement in the sense that I think the masses of people showing up are dead right: government is out of control and the people are rightfully pissed off. I do not buy into the tea party movement in the sense that the events are orchestrated by known Republican Lobbying Firms: the events are nothing more than using people. That is my problem with the NNTP: I agree with a lot of what they say, however I think those behind the party are just disgruntled that the GOP didn't endorse them. They are taking advantage of outraged citizens who want change and they seek to profit from that. I see that as a problem. Just my opinion.

Are you sure that you are not confusing this with the last local dem sweep who used 'the people' by promising lower taxes? Weren't they just using 'the people' by saying how 'evil' the last administration was? Were they just using 'the people' by articulating that surprise is the worst ever and totally and personally responsible for our higher taxes. Did they not use 'the people' by putting a rich 70 year old man with past heart problems up for supervisor? The dems just used 'the people' as their vehicle to reach their ultimate power position and seeked to profit from it.
I think you may be confused a bit here.
