OK, back to Wednesday's town board meeting.  I found it quite interesting.  There were 2 separate public hearing, one for each of the positions, in order to review the idea of removing the residency restrictions for each of the 2 positions that they wanted to fill with outsiders (the confidential secretary and the town attorney).  Funny thing is that no one who spoke up regarding the secretary was OK with the fact of bringing someone from out of town, essentially stating that the public said no to this.  So, what was the first thing that they did immediately after that?  Well, they went ahead and appointed the outsiders to the positions.  They also gave the $10,000 "stipend" to the secretary.  Now, understanding that was all planned out from before they were even sworn in, the worst part of the entire thing came at the end of the meeting.  Remember that $10,000?  Yeah, well Supervisor DelGallo and (Six-Gun Slinging) Deputy Supervisor Godlewski stated that they would be having a meeting Thursday morning to make decisions.  They needed to find out from every single department head everywhere they could cut costs because we didn't have the money.  They wanted to set a limit for how much could be spent by a department without going and getting a go-ahead from a higher up.  All this without letting GP even know before the end of the town board meeting (which is when they announced this) that they were planning this.  GP did stand up for the taxpayer and state that he would at least like it tabled in order to have a chance to speak to the department heads before making a decision.  I don't remember the outcome of that, off the top of my head.

Apparently not in Rotterdam though.  Apparently it is Government of the people, by the few for the benefit of the select few.

Kevin--so what if she lives out of town.  What are you going to do about Aragosa??  He has always been there living out of town.  Andy Brick lived out of town.  Others have along the way.

I hope they keep GP out as much as they can.  None of you had anything to ay when they eliminated the jobs of others who were Democrats just so they could hire the high priced GP.  Ya know pay back is a bi!tch.  ST made a mess of the town with the aid of GP so let them get kicked around a bit.  Di you think the Reps would be in power forever?  And if they don't shape up soon, it will be a long time before they every get a position again in this county.  Why not focus on that dilemma.

MT if you have to refer me to a website that starts out "turnmeondeadman.com" you have wayyyy too much time on your hands and btw it was Alice--as in Go Ask Alice.  Poor Dorothy was hit in the head.

Payback is a b**ch huh?  At the expense of the taxpayers and residents?  The Town Democrats sent one of their own residents to the unemployment line, to hire a politically connect person from another COUNTY in the name of payback.  Alley, you keep speaking in terms of Democrats vs. Republicans.  Don't you get it, our elected official fired one of the Town people they are in office to represent to make room for a patronage job for somebody living in another County?  GP was fine with hiring their own person, but from within the Town.  Almost 30,000 residents and not one trustworthy Democrat qualified for secretary?

I'm already very very disappointed in this new administration. I did not support them. I did support the NNTP. However, this new administration ran on 'reform' and 'change', which clearly has not been the case.

The talk of how awful the past administration was and how they were NOT going to demonstrate 'politics as usual' if elected.

Well guess what folks.....it certainly IS 'POLITICS AS USUAL'. Rotterdam is still a laughing stock!!!

I would guarantee....that if the NNTP candidates were elected we wouldn't be having this cyber conversation!

Surprise replaced JM because JM was either not capable or just refused to work with the people during the reval! That is a no brainer. There were MANY residents dissatisfied with JM!
This clearly was not the case with the replacement of a 'secretary'.

However, I will agree that Surprise should not have gotten 'more money' than JM. I was not happy and b!tched about that when that little transaction took place.

You need to get over  yourself! Really!

Thats clearly your opinion and I can live with it but the reality of the situation is replacing a lifelong, 15+ year town employee with an inexperienced, excess baggage, hate mongerer from Grafton NY doesn't reek of politics eh?

I do believe had Mr Tomassone kept Mr Macejka on board there would be no discussion on the current thread IMHO.  I will always remember the yeoman effort put forth by Mr Macejka during the reval.  Afterall, he wasn't the one who lit the bomb and hightailed it for the City Of Schenectady eh?

Seems abit hypocritical though that the REPS kick and scream about Town Residency, layoffs and politics yet they are as guilty as anyone for their own political demise eh?

What goes around comes around eh?   Then again Bumblethru, you cut your teeth ridding the Town of CATS eh!
