SCHENECTADY Christmas Eve is doubly special City resident still going strong at 101 BY JUSTIN MASON Gazette Reporter
MARC SCHULTZ/GAZETTE PHOTOGRAPHER Neal Brazell, right, and Marion Pritchett look over letters of congratulation Pritchett received from state and local lawmakers marking her 101st birthday.
The first Christmas present Marion Pritchett ever received was a long lease on life. The longtime resident of Schenectady’s Bellevue neighborhood was born on Christmas Eve and has seen her fair share of the holiday ever since. In fact, she’ll experience the yuletide for her 101st time Friday. Pritchett will celebrate more than a century of life today, and several of her friends are making sure she’s recognized for her longevity. Pritchett is receiving letters of congratulations from almost every local, state and federal politician serving the city of Schenectady. “I’m very fortunate,” she said of her long life this week. “I thank the good Lord for that.” This time, the centenarian is also getting a card from the White House, something that was missing when she celebrated a century of life on Christmas Eve last year. That’s because she has a willing booster in Neal and Irene Brazell, a local couple that makes a point of helping out some of the city’s elderly residents. ...............>>>>.......................>>>>....................http://www.dailygazette.net/De.....r00103&AppName=1
