Giuliani cites commitments, won’t seek office in 2010

    NEW YORK — After months of playing it coy and flirting with a bid for statewide office, former New York City Mayor Rudy Giuliani said Tuesday that he won’t return to the campaign trail next year, leaving a wide-open field for New York Republicans interested in the gubernatorial and Senate races.
    Giuliani, viewed by many New York Republicans as a savior for the struggling party, said his “significant commitments” to his lucrative law and consulting businesses made it impossible for him to run for office in 2010.
    At a news conference to endorse ex-congressman Rick Lazio for governor, Giuliani said he had considered running against incumbent Democrat Gov. David Paterson and in the U.S. Senate race next year against freshman Democrat Kirsten Gillibrand.
    Unwilling to bow to speculation that this might be the end of his political career, the 65-year-old said he wouldn’t rule out running for office in the future. “It’s a decision purely about 2010,” he said. “I have no idea whether I’ll run for something else.” .................>>>>..................>>>>...............http://www.dailygazette.net/De.....r01903&AppName=1

Area GOP leaders start backing Lazio

    Montgomery County’s top Republican, Joseph Emanuele III, is throwing his political weight behind Rick Lazio, a former congressman from Long Island who wants to be New York state’s next governor.
    “Rick Lazio understands the immense tax burden being placed on our citizens and has the right ideas to fix this problem,” Emanuele said in a news release.
    Emanuele, who served on the Amsterdam Common Council for six years and as mayor of the city for four years up until 2008, was elected chairman of the Montgomery County Republican Committee in October.
    Emanuele on Thursday said he discussed his endorsement with former Republican Chairwoman Lore Koppel as well as with other county committee members and all supported his decision.
    He said he expects to bring the endorsement to the county’s entire Republican committee and expects they’ll support it.

Hopefully the tea party  movement will find, support and promote a viable candidate. The polls show that the people would favor a tea party candidate over a rep or dem one.
Don't look to either party for your savior.

I wasn't impressed with Lazio when he ran for Congress.  What about John Faso??

John Faso is running for Congress against Scott Murphy. To Sunsie: Yes Lazio is pro-life. Hopefully, he will receive your support?

  The Schenectady CONS chair is supporting Lazio but not the REP? Only in Schenectady County.

Thanks Benny.  John Faso is a smart guy.  I wish I could vote for him, but I'm not in his district.

The Schenectady Co. Reps need to get their act together quickly.  If they aren't going to back Lazio, then who else is in the wings?

John Faso is running for Congress against Scott Murphy

Has there been a change in Faso's plans?  Last that I heard, he was talking about campaigning for NYS Comptroller.

I know that his name has been mentioned by supporters during discussions about the Congressional race.

John Faso is a great candidate. The door is wide open for him to run for either Congress or State Comptroller. I hear he is leaning towards Congress but keeping his powder dry. If he ran for Congress it would be a slam dunk.

What exactly IS pro-life?????  I am pro-life for anyone, including myself until you/I say-----"I cant freakin' stand this treatment anymore".....as for
pro-life in reguard to abortion, what does that mean? Born without a trustfund but, born just the same????

Dont even put it in the 'argument'......leave it alone....personal IS personal.....just like any other 'crime'........

Pataki isn't prolife, nor is he conservative in other ways.

I like Betty Little, John Faso, Jim Tedisco (he was at a prolife function I attended), and maybe the NYS Conservative Party will find us somebody.

Maybe YOU will run. We need some new blood, for sure. At least the GOP has SOME good people. I'm not saying perfect, because no one is perfect.

On the national scene, I think my favorite candidate is Congresswoman Michele Bachmann, and boy, does Pelosi ever want her to lose her election.

Lazio was only against partial-birth abortion when he ran against Hillary, so that's not good enough. I like a lot about the Conservative Party, but they disappointed me when they supported Lazio. I called them about it at the time.
