I heard a rumor his business was on the market.  You people always think the worse.  I would miss Jolly Joe at the register.   Some talk about moving to Charlton.  Wow I guess maybe there are more to the posts then what is meant to be said.  That should be enough of an explanation.

On another note my friends at the Sr Center tell me Mr Signore will not vote to replace Mr DellaVilla to save his carryover friends at Town Hall and those at the Sr Center.  Molly and John I hope.

Peeper thanks for the explanation.  I only thought the worst based on TBV.  I missed your comment originally.  Yes I would  miss "Jolly" Joe at the register too!

Well glad to hear about Signore.  Because GP taking the spot just aint right.  I think Franny will clean out the place as soon as he can.  He's no dummy--even though GP, aka Mr. Ethics tried to defame him.  Neither Reps or Demos like that crap.

Merry Christmas Peeps!

Just saw Joe S this weekend. He was singing "what a friend we have in Jesus". Check out his expanded parking lot off Albany St. He had a great political run and is very happy in his business. If he relocates his business out of the overtaxed City-who would blame him? Where the Candyman goes-we will follow.

Reps must have been advised they had to post the special meeting, so now it is 7:00 p.m. Town Hall.
on December 30th.

Gerard Parisi to be sworn in as Councilmember.

Did anyone tell the Reps that the interviews for the vacant position should be public, as the city of Gloversville found out or is Gloversville's

attorney's interpretation of law wrong?  Just curious......

Rumor is that GP doesn't have the votes for appointment.  Assume that MDV must resign BEFORE appointment is decided.
Thus, there are 4 votes.  Who will vote for/against GP assuming position?

How did Joey G. and Stan M. go through the 'appointed' process?

And since G.P. is an attorney, and the 'present' town attorney at that, one would think that he would know the process. Somethin' don't sound right here.

It all seems pretty cut and dry here.....they have a public meeting....appoint a replacement....vote on it.....done! No?

GLOVERSVILLE - Common Council members interviewed eight candidates Monday for the two soon-to-be-vacant council seats in the 3rd and 5th wards in anticipation of appointing someone to each post Jan. 1.

Councilman-at-Large James Handy, who will be leaving the council Dec. 31, said he was encouraged by the number of candidates who expressed interest in the positions. Third Ward Councilman James Robinson has been elected to replace Handy, and 5th Ward Councilman Matthew Myers is leaving the council to pursue and internship in the state Senate.

The interviews, which city officials had said would be conducted in executive session, were instead done in public session. The council decided to have the interviews in public after discussions with city attorneys, Handy said.

Republicans David Henderson, Robert Fisher and Jay Zarrelli and Democrats Catherine Mueller, Ellen Disciocia and Carl Christiano interviewed for the 5th Ward seat. Conservative Dirk Myers and Democrat Mark Albanese were interviewed for the 3rd Ward seat.

Will the Republican party leadership impose its will over that of the public?

Election results be damned.

This appointment will hurt Republicans across the county IMHO

They are saying that it isn't Mr Parisi.  It will be someone else if anyone at all.  They are stalling trying to find someone.  My friends tell me that the REPS are working their phone lines to find someone else but all those contacted are leery of the ensuing fallout caused by Mr DellaVilla's resignation before the first of the year.  I hear there has been a number of complaints filed with the NYS BAR Association over Mr Parisi's conduct during the campaign and this appointment would cause rumblings from the state level on down and cause the local REPS severe reprecussions and sanctions.  The new State REP chairman, Mr Ed Cox has been notified of this last ditch effort to hold onto the Tedisco/Farley/Pataki influence. The Sr Center folks tell me Mr Mertz is the man who will stop the appointment at the bequest of Mr Signore and his many political connections. Mr Marchinkowski has a state job that Mr Cox and Mr Patterson might like to hear about also.  You wouldn't believe all the chatter you hear sitting in the cafe at the Sr Center.

Smoke screen, litmus test whatever you call it but the REPS have nobody.  Mr Parisi will not be on the Rotterdam Town Board in the very near future.  So my friends at the Sr Center tell me.   And if he is, the blood of many will be on his hands. So I hear.

The best, most deserving, and most publicly supported candidate for the opening remains Michael O'Connor.
He received the most votes of the Republican candidates in the November election.  Further, his appointment
could go a long way at repairing the rift that occurred in the Republican party ranks.

I understand that Michael has expressed his interest in the position.

Mr McGarry got the most votes of any of the NNTP candidates.  He would be the choice of the people I am told by my friends at the Center.   He ran with no major party backing and impressed many people with his candor and smart political, practical approach to leadership.  He remains the darkhorse for this appointment.  Mr OConnor had his chance and lost.  Give Mr McGarry a major party line and he wins.

Brian McGarry would be an excellent choice also.  O'Connor, however, garnered 3265 votes across the two (Republican and NNTP) ballot lines.  McGarry received 1493 votes on the NNTP ballot line (only)

Either would bring integrity and professionalism to the board seat.

Brad is right on with his statement.   The Republicans need someone who will bring dignity back to the party and
Michael possesses qualities much needed to work with the other parties.

The message to Steve and the current board members...do the right thing and give Michael the opportunity to
represent your party and the residents of Rotterdam.

They should beg Tomaselli or Salamone to take it. Fresh faces-leaders for the future. No more retrends? Hearing the same thing at Son's they are calling and nobody wants anything to do with it.
