Did the mole do the due diligence and post notice the required number of days before they have a "legal" meeting?  Papa, the REPS are treading on very shaky legal grounds.  My mole tells me that they waited too long and DellaVilla was "persuaded" to step down too late.  I even heard that Mr Mertz has threatened to "filibuster" the appointment. I know my husband and I will never pull a Republican lever in Rotterdam again if this happens.  And we are registered REPS.

My friends at the Sr Center tell me if the Republicans do this it will cost many potential Town Hall holdovers dearly.  This would be the straw that breaks the camel's back as they say.

A mole tells me GP is being put on as a board member tonight!  I haven't heard about any special meeting, but that is the word.
Salamone turned it down... Not interested...  Should make for some interesting Board meetings.

Salamone was the only one that applied-Suhrada wisely turned it down. Nobody wanted to be the last REP and have to run twice in 2 years.

This would not surprise anyone-why bother with special meetings when you got a pocket full of proxies?

Though I don't believe your enrollment assertion, I do agree that the appointment of Parisi to the Town Board will
signal the end to our local Republican party.  Many have already left the party to become either enrolled Conservatives
or unaffiliated with any party.  I have heard from some friends who say that if this appointment is made, they too will
switch party affiliation.

Why would the vacancy not be offered to the Republican candidates who ran and received support from the residents
in the order of finish?  I think that the candidate who received the most to the least number of votes are O'Connor,
Signore, and Suhrada.  Did the committee reach out to any or all of them?

Does the state Republican party watch over the activities of the county and town committees?

A question for you seasoned politicos, do candidates generally keep their campaign accounts open or do they
close them down after an election?  I would think that those without continued interest would close the accounts.

I was looking around at the various candidates' filings with NYS Board of Elections.  It appears that most accounts
are still open.  Could some be thinking about another run for office?

Gerard is certainly qualified to serve on the Rotterdam Town Board.  Don't know, however, that he is a popular choice to fill the vacancy.

I didn't see any notice in the Gazette, and I don't think they can make an appointment with "proxies", so we will have to see what Mike does.

My campaign account remains open.  Plans for the future are under consideration.

Additionally, you likely wouldn't see accounts closed until the next filing, the January periodic, due at the end of January.
The last filing, the 27 day Post-General, includes the donations and expenditures made in the waning days of the election.

Peeps- How does one filibuster a non-existent meeting? Sounds like a Mr. Bluster moment.

FOF-They always keep the accounts open. The best is when they heve no opponent and still raise big bucks. Then you can make donations to other candidates that have no opposition. Unbroken chain. One never knows when a new opportunity will present itself. Always keep the grease flowing.

Mr Salami- LOL  From what I see on the Public Access Mr Mertz can filibuster with the best of them.  Why I even tend to think sometimes Mr Tomassone didn't know he was filibustering his own resolutions.  Is it true that Mr Suhrada attempted to end more than his political career?

That is the talk around the Sr Center.

Oh hot news off the press.....Parisi doesn't have the votes and no one has stepped forward to assume the prostrate position.  Hmmmm maybe the DEMS will make the appointment after all.

If NNTP is going anywhere, it will need to redesign itself--a "new and improved" NNTP.

What constitutes a "new and improved" NNTP?

I still believe that the highest vote getter should get the position. That is who the electorate 'voted' for. Appointed positions aren't always who the people want. Stan M. was a sure example of that. The decision should lay with the electorate.

Who was it Signore or O'Connor?  Yes absolutely the top vote getter should get appointed.  O'Connor would be great.  If GP takes it, that will just make the Republicans look even more unethical and silly than they do now.  They're grabbing at straws.  Hey NNTP--are you watching and listening--are you learning anything from this?

Trying to catch up here...this is pretty vague.  What is it in reference to?

Bum

Aren't the interviews for an elected position suppose to be open to the public?  That's what the town attorney in Gloversville determined the law to be.

Whoaaaaaa--slow down folks.  The ambiguous comment about Suhrada needs to be very well explained or stricken.  Joe Suhrada may not do politics the way Republicans and some Cons like and not at all what Dems like but he has at least stepped up to public service and put forth an agenda that he thought was in the best interest of the county.  There were many people who liked his brand of governance which is why he was a leg for several elections.  Ok he lost now but he did his stint and I think he will be back.  This "discussion" board is often nothing more than a "gossip" board.  Let's not enter into hypothetical and adverse comments about a man who entered in to public service and is a very good businessman and a good friend to many of us.
