CAPITOL Tedisco looks at term limits for legislators BY MICHAEL LAMENDOLA Gazette Reporter
Assemblyman James Tedisco, R-Glenville, who is in his 14th term as a state legislator, is testing the waters of term limits in his blog. Some observers see irony in his proposal, while others suggest that Tedisco is just being Tedisco, the ever keen populist politician looking for a hotbutton issue to excite constituents. Whether Tedisco is also trying to raise his profi le through his blog for another run in the 20th Congressional District or for state Senate is also part of speculation among political observers. Tedisco said he will seek re-election but remained vague as to which office. “I haven’t decided that yet. I love representing the 110th Assembly District,” he said. Tedisco writes a blog on the Times Union’s Web site, and his latest entry is called “One good term.” In it, he asks readers whether the state Constitution should be amended to introduce term limits for the governor and for legislators. He suggests that term limits would help politicians face down special interest groups and make the tough decisions, especially as they relate to the state budget. .....................>>>>.....................>>>>..................http://www.dailygazette.net/De.....r00905&AppName=1

Assemblyman Tedisco was proposing legislation that would provide for voters to recall elected officials who are not serving the public interests. I thought that this was his preferred approach rather than enacting term limits.
Term limits can have the effect that he suggests of motivating elected officials to do the right thing. They could also result in officials making decisions in their last allowable term that benefit themselves rather than their constituents as there is no retribution at reelection time. |

Term limit support from Tedisco struck me as disingenious. He's a multi-term elected official, no? If he really believed in term limits he could self-impose one on himself but that seems unlikely. |

So don't vote for him. Hey, until the law changes, these people can run for office over and over and over again. But don't be so blindsided as to blame the elected official. BLAME THE SHEOPLE THAT VOTED THEIR A** IN! |

Bumble--I recall Mr. Tedesco from younger days. He was totally involved with politics and at that time was quite liberal. He is pretty much through I believe. Sheldon Silver so aptly described him on WAMC when he became the minority leader when he said "Nice guy but the Assembly is not a basketball court." Tedesco always says one thing and does another. He is a fraud and I believe the sheople saw that when they voted against him last election. He walks around the Assembly now likea man without a country or a county! Term limits--I think the Democrats went easy on him last time--you would all be surprised what is in his closet according to those in the Assembly...and he doesn't even have a relationship with Jerry Abruzzezzi.
Mrs. Beasley says he is done. |

Jimmy Tedisco is done, he's a walking example of why we should have term limits. Ironic. |

Thank you PG 13. You are always so polite and respectful. Agreed he is quite finished. Also he has lost so much respect hecannot lead the party either. His appeal among Assembly members has also plummeted.
Have a nice Thanksgiving PG. |

pg13,
Perhaps, Peter Guidarelli will primary Jim Tedisco for the New York State Assembly seat. What are your thoughts? Will the NY State and County Conservative party endorse Guidarelli over Tedisco? That could determine which candidate the Republican party endorses. |

I don't know about that. |

Tedisco has been ineffective and stagnant as of recent. Perhaps it is time for him to step aside and let some new blood take a shot at the seat. Although I think many, dems and reps, should be considered for replacement.
As far as PG, I would look at him as just another recycled politician. And we have way too many of them now. And after his last editorial of blending GE, with his son's illness, to an MRI machine, painted him as a liberal conservative.....which there is no such thing in reality or ideology.
Being a liberal conservative is like saying you are a poor rich man.....or a healthy sick man.....or a white black man.....or a tall short man...no such thing. |

"Jimmy should run for Farley's seat--he is retiring", stated HD. "Farley denied he is retiring" stated Farley's office. You can't make this stuff up. Jimmy's Assembly seat will go to Saratoga County-where they have a real REP leadeership. Peter G. could have been a great Assemblyman. |
