Dobbs says he’s leaving CNN immediately NEW YORK — CNN host Lou Dobbs shocked his viewers Wednesday when he announced that he would be leaving the network effective immediately. The longtime host of “Lou Dobbs Tonight” said on his show that it would be his last and that he was ready “to pursue new opportunities.” He said CNN had allowed him to be released from his contact, which was set for the end of 2011 and that he was considering a number of options. “I will let you know when I set my course,” he said. The longest-running anchor on CNN’s air, Dobbs was one of the nation’s leading financial journalists before turning his program in a more opinionated direction. His persistent advocacy against illegal immigration angered many. “I’m the last of the original anchors here on CNN and I’m proud to have had the privilege of helping to built the world’s first news network.” CNN’s average prime-time audience was third behind Fox and MSNBC during October, and it was even eclipsed by sister network HLN among younger viewers, according to the Nielsen Co.

Glad to see Dobbs go. He was a fool during the immigration issues. He's perfect for Fox. Let him spin there. He should take Campbell Brown with him. |

Being on CNN in the public scales puts them, supposedly to the left as liberals.....but, what the public doesn't get, is that those folks on CNN that are supposedly lefty/liberals(using labels for Cal), still have bukoo bucks and really are righties when it comes to their 'standard' of living and bank accounts---I'm sure they all know Mr.Madoff and the rest......they just pretend to want to 'spread the wealth'-must be they feel guilty but dont touch their $$.......
SHOW ME THE $$ TRAIL......
1. dont tell me I cant have an abortion 2. dont legislate me to 'love thy brother' |

No need to "label" folks for me. Lou Dobbs went from seeming to be middle of the road to right in a very short period of time. Campbell Brown is the one who surprised me. I did not see her "right-leaning" ways when she was on NBC. They both would be happy at Fox I am sure.
As for Bernie Madoff I have several friends who invested with him. One of them was totally wiped out. However, while they were making money, they did just that with their money. They donated everywhere. And now that they need their money (she with a virulent form of cancer) he has had needed to go back and reopen his office. However they believed then in redistribution of wealth and believe in it now and believe the faith communities should rise up in a bigger way to help the poor. |

Cal, we cant legislate "love"......and the fact is life IS hard.....and the only folks who care are those who do it on their own, to raise $$ etc.....the government cannot be used as a 'winepress'.....that is why our country is here now.....England/Spain etc used their governments as winepresses......it always comes out as vinegar........ remember, camping with labeled folks just because it sounds nice makes one able to state they were not the only one's responsible....just like luck.....keep it real...... |

Following his resignation as a CNN anchor, New Jersey resident Lou Dobbs is said to be considering a run for the U.S. Senate from the Garden State. "The veteran anchor — whose strong views on illegal immigration, healthcare and job creation propelled him to the top of the ratings at the cable network — said yesterday he had been approached about getting into politics, but insisted he was still weighing his options," the New York Post reported on Nov. 14. Dobb announced his departure from "Lou Dobbs Tonight" on Nov. 11, reportedly under pressure to tone down his rhetoric as CNN seeks a more centrist position among the cable news channels. The Senate seat currently held by Democrat Robert Menendez will be up for grabs in 2012. Menendez was appointed to the seat in 2006, when Jon Corzine left the Senate to begin his term as New Jersey governor. Menendez was elected later that year, beating Republican challenger Tom Kean Jr. A Dobbs run for the Senate "is something that has been talked about, particularly for 2012 against Senator Menendez," said Brigit Harrison, a political science professor at Montclair State University in New Jersey. And Patrick Murray, a polling chief at Monmouth University in New Jersey, told the Post: "Lou Dobbs would certainly be an early front-runner" for the GOP nomination if he ran. Dobbs would start the campaign with high name recognition, and could be expected to be an effective fund-raiser due to his national prominence, the Post observed. Dobbs registered as a Republican in Sussex County in 1991, then switched to independent in 2006. Back in June 2008, several Republican sources told the Newark Star-Ledger that Dobbs had inquired about the steps he would need to take if he decided to run for governor in New Jersey. Dobbs received an $8 million severance package to leave CNN with 1 1/2 years remaining on his contract, according to the Post. He called his departure "a very amicable parting on the best of terms." Dobbs is now "in the process of evaluating things," spokesman Robert Dilenschneider said. "There are a lot of people talking to him right now."

Dobbs: I'm Latinos' greatest friend By: Andy Barr November 25, 2009 11:39 AM EST
Perhaps thinking of a future political career, former CNN anchor Lou Dobbs softened his harsh anti-illegal immigrant rhetoric during an interview Tuesday, telling the viewers of the Spanish-speaking network Telemundo that “I am one of your greatest friends.”
“I want to engage in a meaningful and constructive dialogue and work with those who will work toward real solutions,” said Dobbs, who once falsely accused illegal immigrants of carrying leprosy into the United States.
“I think we need to honestly come together. … and make some real progress toward an understanding a compromise for those who are in this country illegally,” he said. “What isn't working is a penalty to those who are in this country illegally for whom we can both be building a bridge to the future in which there is legalization and at the same time constructing an environment in which everyone is clear and unequivocal about the need for border security and a regulated flow of immigration.”
POLITICO reported Tuesday that Dobbs is mulling a run for the White House in 2012, and Dobbs confirmed on former Tennessee Republican Sen. Fred Thompson’s show Monday that he might run. ........................>>>>........................>>>>.............................http://www.politico.com/news/stories/1109/29908.html

Report: Dobbs hired illegal immigrants By: Andy Barr October 7, 2010 09:07 AM EDT
Former CNN host Lou Dobbs, long one of the harshest voices against illegal immigration, has for years employed undocumented workers, according to a report by The Nation.
The liberal magazine reports that “Dobbs has relied for years on undocumented labor for the upkeep of his multimillion-dollar estates and the horses he keeps for his 22-year-old daughter, Hillary, a champion show jumper.”
The Nation says it spoke to five undocumented workers who say they once were employed by Dobbs.
A workers who said he tended the stable for Dobbs told The Nation he received $500 a week for typically 65 hours of work. Other workers reported similar low pay for long hours, and all said that they were undocumented, The Nation said. ........................>>>>...................>>>>..................http://www.politico.com/news/stories/1010/43263.html

I wonder if he REALLY knew they were illegals. Some people in clifton park I know had some landscaping done and some roofing done and some of the workers didn't speak English. Does that mean they are illegals????
I guess what I'm saying is that perhaps he didn't know and that there is yet another side to this story.....perhaps? |

An employer is supposed to check the identification of every employee hired. Every job that I have been hired at, I have had to show my birth certificate and social security card.
Apparently, Mr. Dobbs only believes in controlling illegal aliens when he is paid to say it .. but if he is the one paying for the service ... he is more than willing to hire an undocumented person. |

He never hired an illegal. Go to youtube and watch the "Dobbs on Lawrence O'Donell. He hired contractors that hired illegals. I don't know about you, but if I hire a contractor to work on my house, I don't verify if the contractor completed the I-9's on their workers. It's a hit job by The Nation to smear Dobbs. What's next, if you buy tomatos from the market, you will be considered to be indirectly employing illegals? |
