It is ironic that America gave the world the glitzy Christmas, endless made for TV movies, Hallmark Christmas Cards & Black Friday.  For a long time saying Merry Christmas is politically incorrect, insensitive, counter cultural diversity & anti non Christian.

Most of the junk we buy for the 'Holidays' with Chinese credit is made in countries that are not Christian.  The non Christians do not mind selling US stuff to place under the Christmas Tree.

I respect other's belief systems, I do not want Islam or Judaism rammed down my throat nor do I want the belief system that is manifest in the founding of the United States denied recognition.

America is unique, it was founded by Christians for the most part, acknowledging a spiritual authority having a hand in our founding yet allows it's citizens to believe as they wish.  There are narrow minded people in every group, none so narrow minded than the social engineers (lefties) & non believers.   The ACLU was founded not long after the Communist came to power.  There are no coincidences in life.  The ACLU is not a fan of Christmas.

The world, life is an eternal struggle.  Good & evil, FBI & organized crime, CIA & KGB, you get the drift.  Jesus was an overt expression of love for man by the 'higher authority'.  For the most part, life is our toy but every now & then there is an intercession.  Jesus offered humanity a path out of the world of eternal struggle.  Jesus's death can be interpreted as evil winning or the transmutation of flesh into spirit, the cross being symbolic of the joining.  It is simplistic to view Jesus as dying for our sins, it is much more complicated.  America was created for a reason, to offer hope to a corrupt world governed by brutality.  The creation was not bloodless nor perfect, what is in this life?  Just as Jesus's teachings were reinvented by man so was the intent of our founding fathers.  Not for the better.

A world without God (higher authority) is an eternal cycle none of us will escape from.   The celebration of Christmas is not ideal, too much commercialism exist, greedy people profit from it but it is better than the alternative.

Merry Christmas

Edmond Day

Ed! Those who speak positively of "cultural diversity" need to define what they mean. If CD is really what they want then polygamy, cannibalism, sodomy, buggery, pot-smoking, dope in general, cock-fights, bull-fights . . . (need I go on?) are all permissible. Hey! "You're okay! I'm okay!" The fact is, the USA is a Christian Culture. Some of us are also Christians. Some, like myself, are Deists. Others are agnostic, even atheists. We tolerate other cultures (not to be confused with religions) but should not allow them to propagate. If a person of another culture is legally admitted to the USA then the citizens of this country may rightfully expect them to conform to our Christian Culture in public affairs. This leaves them plenty of scope in private matters provided our laws are respected. If I see a man break into a car and he is black should I mention it to the police? If I don't, they may assume he is white. Either way, it's racial profiling and complicates cultural diversity. Political correctness inhibits security in spotting possible terrorists. At airports, everyone has to be screened. Pre-selecting Arab and Persian names and physiogamy would reduce the labor, wasted time and inconvenience. The Australians have it right: "If you don't like our culture you are free . . . to leave.  Same for the English language.

Ivan, I agree with you. But it really is a word game. It goes from diversity, to political correctness, to tolerance and the newest one called hate crimes.

Those of us who try to keep American traditions that were created by our founding fathers are losing ground. Free speech is now being stifled, in my opinion, by diversity, political correctness, tolerance and hate crimes. Do these 'words' have a place in society? Certainly. But clearly only under the umbrella of our constitution. These 'words' are slowly taking our founding American traditions and free speech away one word at a time.
