Why we celebrate Memorial Day. And why we apologize to no one.

Our American troops sacrificed everything for freedom and never felt it necessary to deliver any apology speeches. That, apparently, is President Obama’s job.

Some of our country’s greatest accomplishments have been saving Europe from tyranny in two world wars. Here, as a tribute to our fallen soldiers, are twenty European cemeteries dedicated to American soldiers who gave their lives so that freedom could live. Just take it in and contemplate what they did.

1. The American Cemetery at Aisne-Marne, France. A total of 2289 of our military dead.

2. The American Cemetery at Ardennes, Belgium. A total of 5329 of our dead.

3. The American Cemetery at Brittany, France . A total of 4410 of our military dead.

4. Brookwood, England American Cemetery. A total of 468 of our dead.

5. Cambridge, England . 3812 of our military dead.

6. Epinal, France American Cemetery. A total of 5525 of our Military dead.

7. Flanders Field, Belgium . A total of 368 of our military.

8. Florence, Italy . A total of 4402 of our military dead.

9. Henri-Chapelle , Belgium . A total of 7992 of our military dead.

10. Lorraine, France . A total of 10,489 of our military dead.

11. Luxembourg, Luxembourg . A total of 5076 of our military dead.

12. Meuse-Argonne. A total of 14246 of our military dead.

13. Netherlands, Netherlands. A total of 8301 of our military dead.

14. Normandy, France . A total of 9387 of our military dead.

15. Oise-Aisne, France . A total of 6012 of our military dead.

16. Rhone, France . A total of 861 of our military dead.

17. Sicily, Italy . A total of 7861 of our military dead.

18. Somme, France . A total of 1844 of our military dead.

19. St. Mihiel, France . A total of 4153 of our military dead.

20. Suresnes, France. A total of 1541 of our military dead.

If we added correctly, the count is 104,366.

Apologize to no one. Remind those of our sacrifice and don’t confuse arrogance with leadership. As Americans, let’s all look forward to the next elections – to find a President who doesn’t think we need to be ashamed.

Well they sure keep the lawns nice. But we might want to apologize to the homeless vets at the Bethesda House  and elsewhere for the crappy way society treats them if they come home alive-

Somebody==ask me how many homeless Viet Nam vets eat in the soup kitchen in Albany--lots and some live under the bridge (787).  Then ask how many Iraq vets have committed suicide since returning home.  Almost as many that have died in combat.  Movie at Proctor's on Wed.  "The Good Soldier"  all kids in high school should see it.  Veterans for Peace are giving out free tickets to students.

war will ALWAYS exist....cain and abel, the cooking pot etc.......ALWAYS.........

without a draft,,,,we have a volunteer army,,,,I'm not a vet, never been a soldier and there is a reason
it's volunteer.....war sucks.....but so do ignorant people.....well, not ignorant people,,,,stupid people suck

The Hatfields and McCoys......sound familiar...a war, small, but a war still.....just like in Poedunk Rotterdam
