The NNTP is a result of malcontents in the Republican and Conservative parties that weren’t endorsed by the party leadership for whatever reason.  While they have noble ideals, I don’t think they will be able to deliver them without cutting services.  We’ll see. I wish them all well as I do all candidates on November 3.

This is for a bigger picture,,,,not just the local yokals......we cant 'push up' ANYMORE.....we have now come
to a point of 'tearing down'.....dont fear it folks....this is America,,,this is not a coup d'etat either.....
we have a constitution as our foundation.....the problem is that the structure on our foundation is cracked
at the least.........

GET OFF MY BACK.......DONT WASTE YOUR VOTE----VOTE ROW F............

Yes, Brad malcontents meaning dissatisfied with the existing state of affairs. Wasn't that what brought you all together? You weren't happy with the party leadership for not endorsing you amongst many other things like high property taxes, right? True or not true?

I don't speak for Brad.  But, I would say, just from speaking with the candidates running on the NNTP line, that the malcontent started first and foremost with the state of affairs of the local government, as well as the State and Federal governments.  I know just from reading this board, Michael O'Connor struggled with the choice of getting involved in local government through the traditional means of asking the existing parties for an endorsement, OR starting a 3rd party and running on his own.  I can tell you, and you can go back and read it for yourself, I suggested he run on an existing party and attempt to influence it from within.  Choosing the least path of resistance.  Especially a Republican Party that was lacking qualified candidates County wide.  And I must admit, now seeing the inept leadership of the Republican Party...I was wrong.

The malcontent that first started with the state of affairs of the local government, suddenly became malcontent for the political parties running the government.  Seems to be the natural progression nowadays.

I think the Democrat and Republican brand are losing their gravitas.

Great thanks for finding that press release. Yes, I'm extremely proud of my NYS career.  Back when I started, the private sector jobs were plentiful.  GE was hiring and their salaries were much higher. I didn't care. I came from a family of civil servants and wanted to work for NYS. It's called commitment to serving others. Many jobs offer this type of personal satisfaction. My career has been rewarding and fulfilling. I work hard because I feel the taxpayer deserves the best I can do. As the economy tanked, state worker salaries didn't. However, we were furloughed several times to help offset the declining revenues in the state coffers.  DEC has lost many positions in the last year. As have other agencies. NYS is trimming the budget. Union contracts will be on the bargaining table and I'm sure we will be facing 0% increases in salary as we have in the past.

I also contributed to my retirement. That was ended by Comptroller Carl McCall if my memory serves me right. The pension fund was doing well because the economy was doing well.  So NYS management decided we didn't need to contribute any more. That will change with Tier V.

I'm also very pleased with my League of Conservation Voters endorsement. Probably the only time in my life I'll share the same endorsement as Mayor Bloomberg.

I am Mary's daughter. I was not asked to come on this blog to talk about my mom, it was simply of my own doing. Let me give you a little bit of what I notice about her.She is probably one of the most driven individuals I've ever met. Before I go further, let me tell you that this is absolutely nepotism-free. I just want the public to know what kind of a person Mary is and that I know she is the best woman for the job. First of all, she has two major endorsements that I know of, PEF and League of Conservation Voters. The environment is one of her biggest concerns, but it is not the only one. Don't be misled by the literature that has been sent out, she cares about every aspect of government that affects the people in district 4. She knows that there needs to be more accountability, fiscally, etc., to the people. When she talks about cutting taxes, she does not always feel there needs to be a reduction of services, just bettter use of the money and greater efficiency within these services. And to those that think that she is just another government worker looking to control legislation, my opinion is that that is absurd. She is not power hungry, she does wants to make a difference.

On a more personal note, and I will wrap this up soon I promise, she has always taught me and my sister to stand up for what we believe in and never settle for anything less. Honesty is the hallmark of her personality. When she says she will do something, believe me, it gets done. So just consider what I've said. I realize that I have come forward at the eleventh hour, but I felt I needed to let people know who Mary Barrie is. And she truly is a working mom, working for change.

Also, to Cal-- thanks for the compliment. It truly was appreciated!

Back at you Jen Barrie   I am even more impressed at your courage to get on this board with a real group of rag tag malcontents (me included).  You are young, energetic, and I am sure anxious to see change with your Mom in a leadership role. I am sure it was no easy decision for your Mom to decide to take on this challenge.  She is to be admired and thanked.  On Wednesday, this board will be dead.  And we will hopefully have some change or the status quo--always a possibility in Rotterdam.  Although I am a liberal Democrat, I am encouraged at the youth who do speak out and that would include Matt Martin who wants to be on the Town Board.

As Ghandi said, "be the change you want to see in the world."  Good post and good luck to your Mom and all the new candidates who have shown courage and commitment by running.  Good luck in your efforts Jen.

Sal--calm down.  At least Mary chose to run.  The Reps have no one.  Don't be so invested in Holly either.  In the end she screwed seniors in Rotterdam.  Of course they would run somebody against her.  Just because Karen JOhnson runs unopposed (foolish Reps) doesn't mean everyone should.  And remember Holly is still a Rep/Cons/Dem.  What the heck does that say about the state of the Dems?

I know you are upset, but all folks should be welcome on this board.  Just too bad no Dems think it important enough to get on here and support us.

It's ok Sal.

It's good to know your mom will have more time at home, quietly helping the environment after Nov 3 from her nice state job.  No more of this pesky campaign stuff to deal with.

Unfortunately, the fact is, politics is full contact.  Sugar coating it for the kid doesn't change the reality of it.

Well RUDE seems to be the strong-suit of this board.  I would think you would want to encourage young people to become interested and involved.  Now you fools just taught her that in fact "Rotterdam is NOT a nice place to live."  Some day she just might give you back some of your own medicine. Jen join the League of Women Voters--the only political group that is fair and just and ethical.

Encouraging your kid to make them feel like they have to come and defend mommy and boo hoo, they're picking on my mommy ... that's not the best way either, ya think?  Jen just happen to come here 3 days before the election?  Ya, ok.

Why don't you tell the young folks to move to the city of schenectady too. Ya know....a nicer place to live, with lower taxes and less crime.
Perhaps they can help with the scumbag drug addicts and whores.
Or perhaps they can teach the scumbag men not to urinate and spit on the sidewalks.
Perhaps the young people can get a job at the non-corrupt dss dept.
Perhaps they can help people get jobs and get off of the hand-out system. OPPS....forgot, the plex hasn't created any jobs yet.
Perhaps some will be sooo needy that they will neglect their family for the sake of the scumbags.
Perhaps they too, can become clueless and out of touch with reality.
And perhaps they too can elevate themselves at the expense of the scumbags.

Some people measure their worth by using scumbags as their plum line. Other people choose to shoot for a higher goal.

As far as RUDE....nah, it's called TRUTHFUL....something 'some people' obvioiusly knows NOTHING about!
